Introduction:
The term circular covers all those weft knitting machines whose needle
beds are arranged in circular fashion. Single jersey fabric is produced by
the plain circular latch needle machine. In this machine only one set of
latch needle is used. Here the cylinder and the sinker ring revolve
through the stationary knitting cam system.Yarn feeders which are
stationery, situated at the regular interval around the circumference of
the cylinder. Yarn supplied from the cones, placed either on an integral
over head bobbin stand on free stationary creel through tensioners, stop
motions and guides eye. The fabric in tube form is drawn down wards
from inside the needle cylinder by tension rollers and is wound on to the
fabric latching.

b. Dia of motor pulley = 6 cm
c. Dia of machine pulley = 28.5 cm
d. Dia of machine pulley (2) = 7.5 cm
e. Dia of bevel gear pulley = 26.5 cm
f. No of teeth of cylinder gear = 195
g. No of teeth of bevel gear = 45
h. Loop length = 5 mm
i. Needle gauge = 22
j. Dia of cylinder = 19 inch
k. Shift timing = 8 hrs.
l. Efficiency of the machine = 90%
Production calculation:
In case of the Woven fabric production is calculated in length wise but in
case of the knitted this procedure doesn’t work. In this case, as the length
of the fabric varies with the application of the tension, so production is
calculated in weight basis. In this experiment we apply both process.
R.P.M of the cylinder = 1430 ×( 6÷28.5) ×(7.5÷26.5) ×(45÷195)
= 19.66 Rotation per minute.
Conclusion:
The gearing diagram of the machine was drawn as accurately as possible.
The R.P.M ofthe cylinder was calculated and the production of the
machine (both in length basis and in weight basis) per shift of eight hours
found for 32 Ne count of yarn is satisfactory. So the experiment of
calculating production and drawing the gearing diagram is successful.
