The Fritz-CILT Humanitarian Certification Programmes are
recognised by NGOs including ICRC, UNICEF, WFP, UNHCR, Save
the Children, Oxfam, International Rescue Committee, MSF, World
Vision and IMC. The Programmes have come to be recognised as
the leading Programmes for logisticians to either enhance their skills
or qualify them to join this demanding but rewarding sector.
Humanitarian Logisticians and Supply Chain Managers are called
upon to provide responses in a variety of situations, sometimes
planned for, but often happening without warning. In such situations,
they must have the ability to quickly construct and operate a supply
chain to bring relief to those in need. Our online learning platform,
SCILaid, allows you to develop these skills in a realistic but safe
environment with guidance from an experienced coach throughout
your studies.
There are no exams as the study method involves building up a
portfolio in which you have proved your competence to apply
knowledge to a practical scenario which is directly related to real-life
situations.
The CHL has been designed specifically for those working in deep
field locations who require flexibility in their learning schedules. It can
also be studied in French as the Certification en Logistique
Humanitaire (CLH).

The Study Method

SCILaid is the learning platform used for our online programmes for the
humanitarian sector. CHL uses the innovative ‘competence model approach’
which emphasizes application of skills, as opposed to the examination of
knowledge.

At the start of the course, the candidate (or student) is inserted into a realistic
scenario in which they have to manage logistics functions. The tasks that they
are requested to do are designed to facilitate the development of the required
skills or the demonstration of experience, as defined in the competence model.

Throughout the programme, candidates are supported by coaches experienced

in humanitarian logistics. The team at LLA also assess candidates’ assignments
and determine when they are ready to proceed to the next unit.
