When growing marijuana, cultivators strive for the plumpest, juiciest, and most
potent buds. Most people would be left scratching their heads if asked to detail the
necessary processes in order to achieve that supreme yield. A cannabis cultivator
needs more patient to grow.
Pruning
Cannabis buds will form at most of the plant ’ s nodes. A node is where a leaf or
branch grows off the stalk. The larger the plant grows, the more nodes will appear,
which means your plant will have more locations where buds can grow.
Intuitively, you might think that more nodes means more and larger buds, but this is
far from the truth. Nodes with buds that are lower down on the plant away from the
canopy will try to develop in flowering but will never become fully developed
because they do not receive adequate light.
If you want to improve the yield of your plant, the best method is to prune away any
plant life that isn’t receiving quality light. Trim away the buds and foliage that are
under the canopy to “lollipop” your plant. This strategy will send all the energy into
the canopy where the buds are receiving the most light, thus giving you bigger,
denser nugs.
Add Nutrients
One of the surest ways to get fat and juicy marijuana buds is to spoil them with
fertilizers. Once they start to bloom, they will crave phosphorous. So, make sure to
add a mixture of 10% nitrogen, 30% phosphorous, and 10% potassium (NPK 10-30-10)
during the flowering phase.
If we want the biggest buds possible, boost with an extra dose of potassium at the
end of the flowering cycle. For the best result, try the special formula from the
Flower Power system which nourishes up to 20 plants.
This is, of course, only possible to change effectively when you have an indoor grow
room. If you are an indoor grower, it is a simple matter of moving the lights closer to
your plants. If your plant has already grown uneven colas because of poor lighting
during its vegetative state, it will be difficult to evenly and effectively distribute the
light. The buds themselves should have direct exposure to the light for best results.
Marijuana Fertilizer
Marijuana fertilizer is critical for your plants to reach peak performance! Like carbon
dioxide, the nutrients in the soil allow the plant to grow much bigger, thicker, and
faster than if simply left to their own devices. Read this article called the “Best and
Most Popular marijuana fertilizers” to learn all you need to know about nutrients.
Marijuana plants require more phosphorus during their flowering phase than in their
vegetative phase, so when the flowering phase begins, you should start a new
nutrient regimen as we.
If you want your buds to be fat and juicy, you are going to have to spoil them a bit.
Take special care of them during the flowering phase of the plant’s life cycle.
What buds crave most of all is phosphorous, so try a mixture of 10% nitrogen, 30%
phosphorous, and 10% potassium (commonly referred to as NPK 10-30-10) to curb
those cravings. At the end your buds can use a boost of extra potassium.
In conclusion
Growing bigger buds is a lifelong ambition for most gardeners. However, bigger buds
won’t happen overnight. Gardening is a skill that takes time to refine since you can’
t speed up a plant’s growth process. One of the best things you can do is to write
down what you’re doing to your grows every day; that way, if you have a successful
harvest, you can revisit what you might have done differently in your garden and
replicate it with future grows.
