RE: Final Self-Reflection

Throughout this summer course, I have managed to learn how to handle my stress when presenting to an
audience, having a better knowledge of my audience and how to respond back to them.

Organization
I feel when presenting I still get nervous which causes my organization during my speech to go out of place, making me
forgot parts and pieces of information I was planning to present but get to nervous and forget. Organization though Is a
major key to presenting well, the better organized one speech is the better the speech comes out making it easier for the
audience to follow. When I plan my presentation I have to make sure I have my main points, conclusion, and all that
organized in order to make sure my I do not forget important information do I have to involve for my audience to hear.

Appeals and Integrated Evidence

using all these supports better helped me, knowing the better easier way to talk to my audience. And how to properly
present to my audience with accurate information for me to learn their trust and to present them with good information
for my speech. All these three strategies helped me during the research process, to the actual part where I would one
present and two connect with my audience.

Logos:
Logos refers to the effort to convince your audience by using logic and reason. The logos in one’s presentation
must be knowing that what you are saying, and present are accurate information being given to the audience.
By doing so the presenter has to make sure when doing research that the information they access is accurate
and cited that it is approved to use. Along with that I as the presenter had to make sure that the information, I
used to be recent information that has been approved and up to date.

Ethos:
Ethos is an appeal based on the honesty or trustworthiness of the speaker; this reflects on the speaker knowing
the topic one is ready to present. As a the speaker/ presenter it was my job knowing the topic for my speech in
order for my audience to feel the trust in me, as long as my audience knew I had the acknowledgement and
confidence in order to present well. the audience must feel the trust that everything the presenter says, and
displays must be honest information to earn the trust of the audience.

Pathos:
Pathos means knowing the emotions of your audience, knowing the pathos of my audience helps one better
describe the atmosphere during the presentation. I would say I had to know the pathos of my audience to know
how to present towards them strongly or easily. I do not believe I need to improve on knowing my audience
emotions. I feel as I have a good knowledge on pathos when it comes to presenting.

Delivery and Visual Aids

I feel as if I need to improve in my vocal variety, during some speeches I do feel as if I am talking to fast as if I am in a
rush to finish with the presentation. I am aware I just need to learn to control my anxiety and take a deep breath and
slow down when talking. One way I would want to do things differently would be, to better practice how to present my
1
speech before I deliver my speech. With more practice done where I can control my breathing and speech of how fast I
talk will better help me improve in talking in a normal pace for my audience, making it easier for my audience to follow
along and better enjoy my presentation.

Audience Assessment and Adaptation:

With all my speeches that I have presented, I had to adapt to what I knew of my audience to better present. Knowing
their knowledge of the topic that I was going to present; one has a better idea of what certain topic and ideas. This
helped me better break down the topic for my audience, making it easier and more interesting for my audience to hear.
Adapting better to ones audience helps the presentation of the topic easier, if you know your audience has a better idea
or if your audience has no clue what the topic is, could change completely the presentation of one’s topic.

Speech Anxiety Management:

This speech anxiety management plan helped me plan a better way to present to my audience without being as nervous
as I used to be. I still get nervous because I am not as used to presenting in front of large crowds but now that I have a
better understanding on how to distract my anxiety aside to present better. These strategies will help me in the future
with job interviews, to be able to better present myself to future employers.
This is an example for my speech anxiety management assignment
 For my planting presentation I did use Communication Orientation especially considering how this means to keep
the audience interested and well-focused on the clear presentation. Seeing as though I did know my audience, with
them being my family I knew for a fact that they were not very knowledge with plants. Since I knew of this
information, I knew that my presentation would be interesting for them to listen and to follow along. I could most
likely improve my speech with being clearer and more detailed. For the rest of the course I would like to focus on
how to present a speech with more clarity for my audience to follow along.

Lessons Learned:
This is an example of what a learned in my speech management assignment
 In my Last video presentation, I would say I used these three main strategies throughout my presentation.
Functional Speech Anxiety was used being have the flight or fight instinct but managing through it. And when I gave
my speech about planting plants, I felt a flight instinct being nervous with laughter sense it was my family, I felt more
nervous to present. Even though I didn’t want to present because of how nervous I felt I managed to put aside my
nervous laughter and present to my family as if they were strangers.as long as I manage to learn to switch my
feelings into a professional one to better present without being nervous, I feel like that would really help me to
present better without being nervous.
