Course Description & Objectives


Supply Chain Management (SCM) deals with the entire process of flow of material, money or
information between the producer and user.This course covers some important SCM issues
such as sourcing, matching demand with supply, transportation and coordination. In recent
past, firms have started considering SCM as a source of competitive advantage. The objective
of the course is to develop an understanding of importance of Supply Chain in a firm and to
provide students with tools by which they can analyze issues pertaining to supply chain
management.

Attendance Policy: PGP Attendance Policy would be applicable. However, students are
strongly encouraged to attend all sessions as most of the learning happens during class
sessions.

Instructions on timelines for group formation and group work:

Case Analysis: Each group [to be declared before second session] has been assigned three
cases for submitting analysis and making presentation in class. These are due by 6 am of the
day the cases are scheduled for discussion. The soft copy submission of case analysis should
not exceed 5 pages (including exhibits) and should be uploaded on Moodle. The files should
be titled as “<Group number><space><Case title>”. Following is the list of cases that require
a submission. Allocation of cases to groups will be done before second session.

Global SCM simulation game Guidelines

The link for the simulation will be provided before session 3. All the students should be
registered on HBS website before Session 5. The score in the Global SCM simulation will be a
function of profit, board members’ rating and justification of the decision taken.
