Dual Source Energy Meter Technical Features

 The dual source energy meters are used for measurement of energy supplied by utility
(MSEDCL) and supplied by DG of franchisee in separate registers. The meter is also
capable of recording measurement of various cumulative energies separately.
 The meter is having mechanism to sense and account for dual supply system, i.e.
distribution utility grid supply and local generation (DG, renewable, etc). Two supplies
are available simultaneously at input metering point for continuity of power supply.
 The meter has a provision to accept a galvanic isolated digital AC/DC voltage input to
sense if the meter is on grid supply or other source.
 The sense voltage rating for the input is having wide range from 48V to 240V AC or DC,
depending on the status of the input, the meter shall process the data differently and store
them in separate registers i.e. utility/ DG mode.
 The default setting without any input shall be distribution utility grid supply.
 Meters is suitable for measurement of different electrical parameters like Active Energy
(kWh), Reactive Energy (kVArh),Apparent Energy (kVAh) etc. in 3Ph-4Wire
balanced /unbalanced loads of LT Consumers.
 Meter has minimum two serial communication ports:-
 I) for meter read out using CMRI / PC or for any configuration by authorized
personals.
 II) for remote communications.
 Meter has latching relays for phases and neutral to protect the common tamper of phase
interchange, phase and neutral interchange, load through local earth, etc. as well as to
disconnect the load.
 Tamper and fraud monitoring features (anti tamper features)
 The meter detects and correctly registers energy only in forward direction under
various tamper conditions and works satisfactorily under presence of various
influencing conditions like External Magnetic Field, Electromagnetic Field, Radio
Frequency Interference, Harmonic Distortion, Voltage / Frequency Fluctuations
and Electromagnetic High Frequency Fields.
 The meter has sufficient non-volatile memory for recording history of billing parameters
for last 6 months.
 Guarantee extends for a period of 66 months from the date of supply or 60 months from
the date of installation, whichever ends later.
 The existing Dual Source meters has no full proof arrangement to avoid tampering
from outside by giving false signal/pulse to meter. Therefore, it is recommended to
keep incoming metering cubicle intact & any losses more than prescribed limit are
to be born by DF consumers.
 Doubts about loss in unit reading due to malpractice, MSEDCL has installed a check
meter for such purpose & DF is held accountable for exceeding the prescribed loss limit.
