CONCEPT PLAN

Rationale:

The Ateneo de Naga University – College of Nursing has its vision to promote quality care not
only in the community but also to the world. Health education and promotion plays a big role in achieving
peace and health in the community. The nursing students are in mission to dedicate committed quality
care as part of their profession.

The Level II Ateneo Nursing Students will conduct a Health Promotion Activity about Teenage
Pregnancy in Camarines Sur National High School as part of their requirement for Maternal and Child
Nursing subject. This activity will serve as an opportunity to educate, enlighten, and empower the
adolescents to make a positive change in their life in order to prevent early pregnancy and motherhood.

Teenage pregnancy is relevant and very alarming issue in our country for the past years.
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the Philippines is currently haunted by teenage
pregnancy woes as 13.6 percent of girls below 18-years-old got themselves pregnant in 2018. Worse, nine
percent of girls aged between 15 and 19 have already given birth or are pregnant, the Philippine Statistics
Authority (PSA) said in 2017. The Philippines has become the topnotcher in teen pregnancies among the
six major economies of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), with the rate in the
Philippines increasing while the same rate was reported to be decreasing in the other member-states.

Objectives:

1. To put into action our learning in Maternal and Child Nursing

2. To educate and promote awareness to adolescents about Teenage Pregnancy

3. To encourage the adolescents to delay initiation of teen sexual activity

4. To establish connection with our participating school
