1. Install shocks and fasteners (Items 16,

17,18 and 19).Torque nuts to 40 lb-ft Fig. 3 3 5
(oiled), 50 lb-ft (dry). See Fig 3.

Install height control valve (Item 1). Use

1/4" - 20 fasteners, per valve manufacturer’s
instructions. See Fig 4.

2. Install one push-in type male connector

(Item 3) in the 1/4" NPTF port of each
air spring. See Fig 3.

3. Insert rubber grommets (Item 5) into

holes in the crossmember adjacent to
the fittings in the air springs. Using DOT 19 16 17 18
approved 1/4" tubing, run a line from Rear View – HutchRide System
each push-in fitting at the air springs
through the grommets in the cross-
member and connect the ends to the Fig. 4
push-in type union tee (Item 4) supplied.
See Figures 3 and 4. 1 4

NOTE: It is imperative that the 1/4"

airline tubing does not interfere with the
pin release linkage mechanism.
4. Using 1/4" tubing, run a line from the
union tee to the center port of the height
control valve (Item 1). See Fig 4.

5. Install the pressure protection valve and

filter (Item 2) directly to the air reservoir.
See Fig 4. 3 2
6. Install a push-in type male connector To Air Supply ➤

(Item 3) into the pressure protection

valve. See Fig 4.

7. Using 1/4" tubing, run the supply line from hutchens industries
the pressure protection valve and filter to the
bottom port of the height control valve.
See Fig 4.
Fig. 5
8. Install the exhaust fitting, supplied with the
height control valve kit, into the top port of
the height control valve. Slip the exhaust hose
over the end of the exhaust fitting. See Fig 4. 8

9. Assemble the flexible link by sliding a hose
6 10
clamp (Item 8) and a rubber link end (Item ➤
7) onto each end of the formed offset rod 10.56
(Item 6). The rubber link ends must be
oriented 90° from each other. See Fig 5.

10 The assembled length of the flexible link is
to be 10.56" measured parallel to the rod 7
ends. Tighten the hose clamps. See Fig 5.

11 Install the flexible link by locating the

upper end on the back side of the height
control valve arm and inserting the Fig. 6
shoulder bolt (Item 9) with a washer 11
(Item 10) through the rubber link end then
through the valve arm with a washer on the
front side of the arm next to the 1/4"
locknut (Item 11). The lower end of the
link must be offset toward the rear.
Torque the nuts on the shoulder bolt to
24-48 lb-in. of torque. See Fig 6.

12 Attach the lower end of the flexible link by

locating the end to the road side of the
tab on the lower beam and inserting the
shoulder bolt with a washer through the 9 10 11 12
rubber link end, then through the tab with a To Air Supply ➤

washer on the curb side of the tab adjacent

to the 1/4" locknut. Torque the nuts on the
shoulder bolt to 24-48 lb-in. of torque. Front View – HutchRide System
See Fig 6.

13 After the springs have been installed, install

the spacer tubes (Item 13), spring retainer
bolts (Item 14) and locknuts (Item 15).
Fig. 7
Torque these nuts to 35 lb-ft (oiled), 50 lb-ft
(dry). See Fig 7.

14 The height control adjustment must be made

with the unladen trailer on a level surface
with an air supply hooked to the trailer.
Make sure that the trailer’s wheels are 13
blocked to prevent unexpected 14
15
movement of the vehicle.
13 14 15
CAUTION: Avoid placing hands or other
parts of the body in locations where Side View
they can be pinched or trapped by
movement of the suspension or trailer.

Two spacers, to be furnished by the installer, hutchens industries

are required to support the unladen trailer at Fig. 8
15
the lower beam. These spacers must be 8"
tall and fit between the air spring and the
spring shackle on each side of the suspension
for stability. See Fig 8.

15 Disconnect the lower end of the flexible

link and move the height control valve arm 14
8.00 operating
up to inflate the air springs raising the trailer height

enough to position the 8" spacers. Do not

raise the trailer more than 2.5" over the
spacer height as damage could occur to
the suspension components. See Fig 8. To Air Supply ➤

16 When the spacers are in place, move the Front View – HutchRide System
height control valve arm down to exhaust
the air from the air springs until the upper
structure rests on the spacers. See Fig 9. Fig. 9

17 Return the height control valve arm to the

horizontal position and insert the locating pin
though the end of the adjusting block and
into the centering feature on the valve body.
See Fig 10.

18 Loosen the 1/4" adjusting locknut holding

the valve arm in position. See Fig 10.

19. Reposition the valve arm, if necessary, and

reattach the lower end of the flexible link.
See Step 12.
16
To Air Supply ➤
20 Tighten the 1/4" adjusting locknut on the
valve arm to 24-48 lb-in. of torque. See Fig 10.
Front View – HutchRide System
21. Remove the locating pin and remove the
8" spacers. To use the air springs to lift the Fig. 10
trailer off the spacers, disconnect the lower
end of the flexible link and push up on the
height control valve arm. See Step 15. This
will fill the air springs. Raise the trailer only
enough to remove the spacers. Do not
overinflate the air springs.
17
22. Once the spacers are removed, reconnect the
lower end of the flexible link. See Step 12. 18 20
