For MALAYSIAN who are new in opening your Amazon Seller Account.

Kindly get all below document ready to prepare for account opening:

1. IC
2. Passport
3. Bank Statement
4. Valid credit card – card holder name must be same as Amazon account
5. Electricity / Water bill – must be English Version & Notarized

Note:
• The name and the address of your Amazon Business, Legal Business, Bank
Statement and Electricity/Water Bill to coincide to each other WORD BY
WORD.
• If documents are issued in languages other than ENGLISH, get it courted
translated and NOTARIZE before submitting.
• Otherwise, please see below steps:

Fulfilling Document Requirement

A. Electricity / Water bill – Translation

1. Please bring your original electricity /water bill (issued within 60 days) and
IC to the Malaysia Court appointed translator for English translation.

• Translation fee: around RM40.00-RM50.00.

• Choices of translator:
• Penang - Nicole (012-4376458) who works at Penang High Court
at Light Street, George town.
• Butterworth - Kani (012-4941971) who works at Session Court
at Bagan Jermal.
(Or you can use your own Malaysia Court appointed translator)

2. After translation, you will be given an invoice to pay at the court counter.
The fee is RM4.00 which you need to pay using only DEBIT CARD.

3. After payment, present the receipt to the translator, to obtain the Court
Certified English Version of electricity/water bill.

B. Electricity / Water bill – Notarization

4. Make an appointment with a notary public agent to get it notarized yourself.

• Notarization cost: around RM25-RM30
• Choices of notary public agent:
• Penang –
 Chan Ban Eng & Co (04-2625135) - at Church Street.
• Butterworth –
 JB Lim & Associates (04-3238311) – Taman Selat
 Lim Leng Han & SF THO (04-3329696) - at Taman Selat.

Documents to be presented during Notarization process:

• Your IC
• Original electricity / water bill
• The Court Certified English Version of your electricity / water bill

C. Bank Statement – to have same name and address

Note: To upload for Amazon account registration, this must be in scanned

color copy and name and address to coincide WORD BY WORD with your
electricity or water bill.

If not, please go to your respective bank, to ask to change and produce the
latest bank statement.

Account opening
5. After completion of all the above steps, you can start open your own Amazon
Seller Account.

6. Amazon question: Register as individual account or professional account?

• Select individual account, to avoid monthly charges of
USD39.99/month.
• If have signed up for professional account, you will be asked to apply
for North America Unified Account (Us, Canada and Mexico). Don’t
sign up for it as you will face problem when you want to downgrade
to Individual account. Just sign up for U.S individual account will do.

7. Amazon request: submit either passport or driving license.

• Please submit using your PASSPORT not driving license. It must be a
scanned clear colour copy.

8. Amazon request: submit bank statement.

• Must be in scanned color copy and confirm name and address to coincide
WORD BY WORD with your electricity or water bill.

9. Insert account info: Please make sure that your name and address on your
water/electric bill must coincide WORD BY WORD with your Amazon
Business Address.
• If not, please change it under setting => account info=> Business
information =>Business address=> add a new business address.

10. Update your legal business address

• Click setting => account info=> legal entity.
• Click on “individual” under tax classification
• Click “No” under are you a U.S person?
• For the name and the address, make sure that they coincide WORD BY
WORD with your Amazon Business Address and your utility bill address.

11.Amazon request: submit additional documents for further verification.

• DO NOT submit internet bill or mobile bill, as it will get rejected due to
differences in languages environment.
• Please submit only your electricity bill (TNB) or Water bill (PBA) in
Notarized English version.
• If this bill is not under your name, please see the following to prove
the relationship.
• If under your parents’ name  submit your parents’ passport
details and your birth certification.
• If under your spouse’s name  submit your spouses’ passport
details and your marriage certificate.
• If under your landlord’s name  submit your landlords’
passport details and your landlord tenancy agreement.
• If under your corporation’s name  submit your business
license.
• Amazon takes 3 – 4 working days to review and approve.

We understand that it is quite a nuisance to comply with all these hassles. However,
as according to Amazon the main aim of SPR (Seller Performance Review) is to
screen out bad actors before they can hurt any customers and other Sellers.

The requirements to pass SPR are strict in order to ensure its effectiveness. While
it’s been effective in reducing many bad actors, Amazon also sees that there are
many good Sellers who could not pass SPR. Henceforth, Amazon requires us to
follow their protocol to avoid any rejection or account suspension.

We hope that the abovementioned won’t disheartened or discourage you from

joining Amazon. As 18 years ago, no one buys online. Today, nearly every young
people have the experience of buying things online. Now is the best time to start
your own E-Commerce business.
