has rounded corners, is made
from corrosion-resistant electro-
polished stainless steel (1.4301).
The sensor module and fan are
both plug-in units, so they can be
changed without difficulty. This
enables problem-free cleaning
and safe decontamination of the
entire interior.

Sensor module
The sensor module, available in
stainless steel or copper, is easily
removed, which facilitates cleaning
and decontamination. The fan and
HEPA CO2 filter are also easy to
change.

Glass door safety device
The glass door safety device
makes it impossible to close the
outer door unless the inner glass
door has been properly locked.
This prevents unwanted airborne
bacteria from entering the work
space when the incubator is in
operational mode.
UV light
UV irradiation at a wavelength of
254 nm is effective against bacteria,
fungi, yeasts, viruses, mycoplasmas
and spores, and disinfects the
surface of the inner casing.
Support frame
CO2 incubators should never be
installed directly onto the floor
because of the risk of contami-
nation from the ground. Support
frames with a clearance of 300 mm
or 780 mm substantially reduce
this risk.
OPTIMUM
PROTECTION
6-door gas tight screen
The gas tight screen reduces the
area exposed to the external atmos-
phere by a factor of 6 when opening
the incubator, reducing the risk of
contamination considerably whilst at
the same time maintaining incubation
conditions. Recovery times are
greatly accelerated, gas consumption
is reduced and work space atmos-
phere interruptions are kept to an
absolute minimum.

with traditional CO2 incubators with separate more importantly, the layer of air between the

and high rates of evaporation from cultures.
Compared with ordinary incubators with a
water tray, the BB 6220's humidity recovery
times are up to five times faster.
Automatic CO2 control with
auto-zero system
The patented, self-balancing CO2 control
system ensures constant, long-term stability of
CO2 levels and so of pH levels in the culture
medium as well. This means that there is no
longer any need for time consuming recalibration
of the measuring cell. The encapsulated mea-
suring cell, which is protected against bacterial
infiltration, is easy to remove from the work
space. Microprocessor controlled metering and
control technology ensures that, once set, the
CO2 concentration remains unaffected by other
gases.
Attention to safety
Easy to read display and
control panel
The display and control panel is fitted with an
easy to clean, soft-touch keypad. Separate
displays make it easy and quick to monitor
incubation parameters.

Air jacket heating system
The patented heating system ensures uniform
work space and wall temperatures, and so
prevents condensation.
Gas tight screen
The innovative gas screen allows culture
conditions to be maintained virtually unchanged
during loading, and also ensures extremely
rapid recovery times. The gas screen's six
individual doors seal off the work space and
render it gas tight, allowing separate access to
individual compartments. The advantage of the
gas screen lies in the reduction of the work
space's opening profile. In other words, the
screen leads to lower gas and energy con-
sumption, reduced risk of contamination and
protection against cultures drying out.
Microprocessor controlled metering
and control system
All key incubation parameters, such as the
functioning of components essential for opera-
tions, are monitored and controlled by a micro-
processor. Software routines detect special
operating conditions – opening the door, for
instance – and ensure that incubation condi-
tions revert to normal as rapidly as possible.
Independent overtemperature
protection
Two independent platinum precision resistors
fitted in the work space serve as sensors,
ensuring a uniform climate and providing
secure protection against overheating.
Alarm system
Any deviation from set parameters activates a
reliable acoustic and visual alarm.

Control of the O2 content and
drift-free metering via an auto-cal
system
Controlling the O2 content in the work space
atmosphere makes it possible to reproduce the
partial oxygen pressure of various organs in
vitro.
Oxygen levels of >21% can be realised by fee-
ding in O2, and <21% by feeding in N2. Oxygen
levels are determined by means of a Clark-type
O2 electrode.
The electrode is calibrated automatically by a
built-in auto-cal system. A monitor indicates
when the electrolyte solution needs to be
changed. This guarantees the accuaracy of the
set value and so ensures the highest level of
safety for your cultures.
High/low humidity system
Humidity within the work space can be reduced
from 98% to 92% of the rH value to prevent
condensation forming on large cell culture
bottles after they have been out of the incubator
for a long time.
Additional safety features
Bottle turning device
The bottle turning device enables bottles of
different sizes to be accommodated. The
rotational speed of each level can be set inde-
pendently. The drives themselves are designed
for minimal heat emission and smooth, silent
running. Bottle turning devices can be com-
bined with metal shelves.
Magnetic stirrer control module
Magnetic stirrers are suitable for mass cell
cultivation in spinner bottles. The control
module is designed for the connection of up to
two (BB 6060) or four (BB 6220) magnetic
stirrers. The connector socket is built into
the work space. Each magnetic stirrer can
accommodate two spinner bottles.
Cytolink data capture
Cytolink monitors all relevant parameters via a
PC. Up to ten BB 6060 and BB 6220 Incuba-
tors can be connected to a single bus system if
desired (Cytolink with Cytolink modem).
Gas cylinder monitor
Automatic switching of gas cylinders for safety.
Lockable door
The lockable door prevents unauthorised or
unwanted access to samples. This is a major
advantage, and is of particular significance
when important or sensitive cultures are being
handled.

BBK 6220 CO2 Incubator with refrigeration system

The BBK 6220 with built-in refri-

geration is a general purpose
CO2 incubator, suitable for all
applications, which completes
the 6000 range. Its additional
refrigeration function offers the
possibility of incubation at low
temperatures. This capability is
particularly important in marine
biology and fish farming.

Connection to a simple laboratory refrigeration
thermostat enables work space temperature
settings from 10 to 50 °C. The combination of
refrigeration system and air jacket heating
system guarantees optimum temperature and
humidity. Uniform heat distribution prevents
condensation build-up, even during cooling.
To enable all working temperatures from 10
to 50 °C can be covered, we recommend a
refrigeration thermostat with a lowest working
temperature of –15 °C and a refrigeration
capacity of 0.2 kW.
To maintain an incubator temperature of 37 °C
in a laboratory with a high ambient temperature,
a thermostat with a much lower refrigeration
capacity can also be used, or the incubator can
be connected to a water cooling system.

The spare part 50029957 Fan for TCD is no longer available.

DESCRIPTION / INFORMATION:

Spare part 50029957 will be replaced by 50082995 Fan comp. for TCD

The new TCD fan is fully compatible with existing incubators.

Important Note Although the connector is different (5 pin DIN) it will fit the
existing socket and the functionality is the same.

Fan for measure cell

Reason:

To inform the field of a wrongly manufactured connector.

DESCRIPTION / INFORMATION:

Checking the connections!

To perform this you need a multimeter. The pin description is shown in the picture on
the next page.

- Choose highest Ohm – measuring range

- Connect the „COM“(-) connection of the multimeter at PIN 2
- Connect the „V“ (+)connection of the multimeter at PIN 1

The measured value should be between 2 - 3 Mega Ohms.

This value rises during measuring because there is a capacitor in circuit.

If the measured value is infinite, the diode inside is in the reverse direction mounted.
Caution! If this fan is installed, it will cause a short circuit and destroy the capacitor.
