In Science for Grade 7 Students

November 12, 2019
by: Amriha D. Bani

I. OBJECTIVE
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to infer that waves carry
energy

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Topic: Waves

B. References:

K-12 Science Curriculum Guide

Grade 7 Science Learner’s Material

C. Instructional Materials:

marker, cartolina, manila paper

D. Value Integration:

Describing, Understanding, Cooperating

E. Science Concept:

Wave is a disturbance in space that moves away from the source and
carries energy with it but not matter. For example, earthquake wave’s
show us that the amount of energy carried by a wave can do work on
objects by exerting forces that move objects from their original positions.
III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNERS’ ACTIVITY

A. Preliminary Activities

(students arrange their chairs

Good Morning Class! Before we start, please
and pick up the papers and
arrange your chairs and pick up the papers and
trash under your chair. trash)

May I request someone to lead the prayer? (students praying)

How are you today class? We are fine maam

Did you enjoy your day?

Before we start to our next lesson, I will remind

you to our Classroom Rules. Our classroom rules
are LCR, L stands for Listen. C stands for
Cooperate and R stands for raise your hand. Yes maam
Always listen, cooperate to our class activities
and raise your hand if you want to answer the
question, if you want to ask question and if you
want to ask permission from me to go outside.
But of course you are only allowed to go outside if
it is an important matter. Are we clear class?

B. Review Lessons

What was our lesson last meeting? It’s about acceleration.

(student answering the

What is acceleration? question)

(student answering the

What is the SI unit of acceleration? question)

(student answering the

What is the formula of acceleration? question)

Do you have any question about acceleration? None maam

C. Lesson Proper

1. Motivation
“ But before we proceed to our new lesson, I want ( students participating )
you to look at your seatmate, the say ‘Hi’ while
waving your hand, again say ‘Hi’ “
“ Do you make a side-to-side motion with the ( students answer the
palm of your hand? question )
“ Do you do an up-and-down motion with your
hand?
2. Presentation

Our lesson for today is all about waves.

This is the objectives for this lesson, everyone

please read.
(students reading the
At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able objectives)
to infer that waves carry energy

3. Discussions

“Class as you repeats the motion of your hand

side-by-side or saying ‘Hi’ while waving your hand
to your seatmate, what did you feel?
“You feel, what?”
I feel the vibration maam
“Again as you wave your hand repeatedly, what
did you feel?”
Very good! The repetitive motion that you do
with your hand while waving is called a vibration.
Class, vibration causes wave motion, when you
observe a wave, the source is always a vibration.
( Students answer the
Now, what is wave? We already know that
question )
vibration causes wave motion, but what is wave?
What do you think is wave? Me!
Who loves to go to beach here? Yes Maam!
So, you are familiar with sea waves? ( students answer the
How does a sea wave look like? questions )
What happens when you are hit by a sea wave?
Surfing, Boating, etc.
What is the activity that uses sea wave?
The big waves hit harder than
What is the difference when you are hit by a big the small one
sea wave than a small one?
Because of the wind ma’am
What do you think is the reason why there is a
wave in the sea?
( students answer the
Now can you define what is a wave? question )

To know, what really wave is, I will give you an

example.
Class, I have here a picture, this is a lake, a still
lake.

Yes ma’am
By the way class, do you know what lake is?
Lake is a large body of water surrounded by land;
it does not flow like the river. As you can see, the
water inside the lake is calm.
(students answers are
Now, If I throw a stone on this lake, what will
varied)
happen?
Class, it will turn like this (showing the picture)

Yes ma’am
Have you imagined that class? Or did you
imagine that? ( student answer the
Now, based on the example I have shown to you, question )
what is wave?
Very good! Wave is a disturbance that makes a
vibration, causes to moves away from a source
and carries energy with it.
As you can see, the lake is calm, yet you throw a
stone on it, you are already disturbing it that
makes a vibration, which moves away from the
source, and carries energy with it, that makes
rippled water.
Yes ma’am
Class, do you understand?
Another example, is if there is earthquake, how Shaking of the land
did you feel?
Earthquake waves show us the amount of energy
that it carried by making a land vibrate. The
energy carried by earthquake wave can make the
objects/things/humans move from its original
positions. Because there is a disturbance happen
below the ground that makes a vibration, the
energy will move away from the source. Yes ma’am
Class, do you understand?

D. Generalization Wave is a disturbance in

Define what is waves? space that moves away from
Yes, Cherry the source and carries energy
with it but not matter.

Give yourself, a barangay clap
