She was standing in line to get her food when she heard a male voice calling for her in the cafeteria.

“Dr. Jang! Join me please.” Dr. Bong called on her.

“Annyeonghasaeyo Dr. Bong.” Gyeoul greeted.

“Come sit with me. It’s a quiet day huh?” Dr. Bong mused.

“De… don’t jinx it. I have plans this evening.” She said shyly.

“Oh right! It’s your anniversary with Jeong Won isn’t it?” Dr. Bong asked.

“De... We’ll be having dinner later. He’ll pick me up here.” Gyeoul answered.

“Hmm…” Dr. Bong hummed in response.

They continue eating their lunch when Dr. Bong’s phone rang signaling an emergency.

“De, Dr. Bae? I’ll be there in a while.” Dr. Bong said on the phone.

Turning to Gyeoul, he said “You know, I never quite congratulated you. You finally got yourself a
boyfriend and that’s Buddha himself.”

Gyeoul blushed as Dr. Bong was getting something from his side. In his hand is a bright orange rose,
some chocopies and a letter.

“He asked me to give you this. You are indeed one lucky girl Dr. Jang. Never let him go.” Dr. Bong smiled
at her. “I have to go. I’ll see you around.”

She put down her food for a while and opened the letter she’s been getting this morning.

My dearest Gyeoul,

You are probably in the cafeteria right now eating lunch. At that exact same spot where you are sitting
now, is where I found out from Ik-jun that you had an anaphylactic shock last year. I was so scared back
then, I had to run over to the ER but I could never go in because I know what would that mean for you.
Min Ha told me what she said, about being there I really liked you back then. I wanted to be there for
you, but I thought it was really not my place to be.

Back to the roses. An orange rose means fascination, desire or enthusiasm.

I am clearly fascinated by you. Like I said in my previous letters, I am fascinated by your ways on how you
interact with people around you. You don’t have a care of what other people think about you. I am
fascinated by how you carry yourself and how you are not like any girl that I know of.

Aside from that, I am fascinated by your desire to learn above the limits of being a resident. Your desire
and enthusiasm in everything you do is fascinating to watch and I hope I can see it every day. I would
love to be with you every step of the way, from passing the board exam, to choosing your future
specialty, may it be in pediatrics or not. I don’t really care. As long as I can see you happy and the
enthusiasm is still there.
I love you my Gyeoul. I will support you in every way I can.

She knows by now everything he has said in the letter. No doubt that he has been supporting her in
every decision and everything she does. And she loves him for that. That’s why she gives it back to him.
She can be his confidante, his shoulder to cry on when times get tough and just to be there for him in
everything.

She texted him:

I love you oppa. I will also be your # 1 fan as always.

He replied:

I love you too always. I forgot to ask Dr. Bong to include some chocopies in the rose. You can just get
some in my office inside my drawers.

With that, she left the cafeteria to get some choco pies in his shared office with Prof. Kim.
