Jay and Mary Ruth, Thank you for Serving the Lord! We look forward to seeing the next steps as led by Pastor Mark. Please be
in prayer for Mark, Brittany, Micah, Helen Ann, and Nora Leigh along with
First Baptist Church, as together, they embark on a new Spirit-filled
assignment.

I was pastor of McGehee Road Baptist Church when Jay and Mary Ruth
Wolf, along with their “Wolf Den,” returned to town. God shined on the
River Region the day the Holy Spirit said to His Texas son (by way of
Alexandria, Virginia), “This is the way (Montgomery), walk in it” (Isaiah
30:21). The investment of their lives in Central Alabama will forevermore
be felt and known. The apostle said it well, “The world and its desires fade
away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever” (1 John 2:17).
Over the years, First Baptist Church (FBC) has graciously shared their
pastor with Montgomery Baptists and Alabama Baptists to help our I love you and look forward to seeing all God has prepared for the church of
community, state, nation, and the world with the proclamation of the gospel the River Region in these unique times. Remember: God is sovereign, God
and strengthening of the saints. Such examples are: is good, and God loves you.

To know Jay is to be inspired by the encouragement of this kind man of
God. Dr. Wolf has faithfully preached the gospel from the pulpit on South
Perry Street for over thirty years. He has led his flock with an encouraging
heart. Jay’s influence has been massive and contagious, for God has used
our brother to invest in people’s lives through Christ’s love. Jay’s
personality has enabled him to sit with kings yet rub shoulders with the
homeless.
My dear brother and friend has personally enriched my life. I bet yours has
been enriched, too. Jay and Mary Ruth retired from First Baptist on August
16. They will remain in Montgomery and at FBC. Please be in prayer for
our brother and sister as they transition to a new season of God’s blessings
and rewards.
One of Jay’s crowning marks before retiring from Montgomery’s First
Baptist Church has been his mentorship of their new pastor, Mark Bethea.
Mark grew up at FBC and was born and raised in Montgomery. Following a
trail of college, seminary, and pastoring, Mark returned three years ago to
serve as the associate pastor of our first family. In this school of prayer and
spiritual discipleship, Jay has been able to develop and mold this young
leader into a kingdom giant.
