An ​explorer​ is someone who travels to places where no one has ever been in other 
to find out what is there.  
Even though there were many other cultures in the Americas, people from the old 
world did not know of their existence. When we mention the​ old world​ we are 
talking about the european continent, african continent, and asian continent.
