I think that each of us has probably heard this name and probably not only heard but also studied
information about this person at school, because he is quite famous and also an important person. Which
changed our world and founded a new era - the era of discoveries

Christopher Columbus (1451-1506) was an Italian navigator and traveler who served in various European
kingdoms and made several important voyages. His most famous expedition was in 1492, when he led an
expedition of three ships to find a new sea route to India.

Instead, Columbus discovered a new continent - America, which disrupted the geographical map of the
world. He made three more expeditions to America and the Caribbean and became one of the first
Europeans to describe and depict the inhabitants of these new lands.

Why was the discovery of America so important?

First, the discovery of America changed the world map and opened up new opportunities for trade and
economic development. This contributed to the development of new trade routes and the emergence of a
new stratum of the population - pirates.
