Abstract: Now-a-days Inequality has become a very alarming problem especially in job sector
and the percentage of this problem increasing day by day. This paper examines that Inequality in
job sector is a threat for economy and development of our country and suggest some significant
approaches for the solution of this alarming problem.

1
Introduction
Inequality is now a forefront of public Debate. People are more aware of extent of inequality than ever
before. Men and Women are simultaneously important for the country’s development and economic
growth. We can see that male and female are not being treated equally specially in job sector. On the
other hand, the issue of gender inequality in the job sector can be consider as a universal feature of
developing country. Some common inequalities take place in the workplace and these are the gender-
based imbalances of individuals in power and command over the management of the organization.
Unfortunately, most of the companies are not favorable towards the women where as they consider man
as a more strong and responsible employee. “People around the world say they firmly support equal rights
for men and women, but many still believe men should get preference when it comes to good jobs”.
[ CITATION The10 \l 1033 ] So, the percentage of female is lower than the male employees
and also women are not able to move up into higher position than men. In the workplace the men usually
hold the higher positions and the women often hold lower paid positions. Women’s average wage
was 76.3% of men’s average wage in 2014. [ CITATION Uni \l 1033 ] Thus, this is clearly
shows that men are dominating the job sector. Thesis Statement: However, Men and Women should be
treated equally in job sector. This paper considers that men and women are not treated equally in job
sector.

2
Objectives of the study: The objective of my research paper is to create awareness among the
common people about the Inequality problem and its bad sides to solve this problem.

Participants Profile: A survey with a questionnaire was conducted with ten employees of different
organization and 8 students of different universities working in different organization as part time worker
and 2 job analyzers.

Research Methodology: A questionnaire (Appendix) consisting of ten multiple choice questions was
sent out to the ten employees. An interview was conducted with four job analyzers and six employees.
Data collected from the respondents is shown in charts and graphs.

10. What is your suggestion/opinion to solve this problem?

This was my last question in which I asked the surveyors what they think to solve this Inequality
problem. In this session I got a lot of valuable opinion to solve this problem. Some of them are:
1. NGO’s can come forward with necessary steps to solve this problem.
2. Changing the mentality of both man and women.
3. Remove Gender Discrimination
4. Government should imposed strict law against inequality.

Suggestions/Recommendation:

1. Men and women should be treated equally: For no. 1 question a research has been carried out
to find out that men and women are treated equally or not in job sector. Here, Majority of the
people think men and women are not treated equally in job sector. It proves that Inequality exists
in job sector. This inequality has a bad impact in the organizations. “Men and women are not
treated equally this is called sexism. This means that a man or a woman is treated in a negative
way for no other reason because of their sex. This is unjustified because men and women are
equal.” [ CITATION Hum16 \l 1033 ]. So men and women should treated equally.

2. Creating more awareness: For no. 2 question a research has been conducted to find out the
reason behind Inequality. Here, most of the people believe that Inequality occurs for all of the
above options which are Discrimination, misuse of power and implicit biasness. Creating more
awareness can decreases Inequality. It is very important to remove this problems. Creating
awareness is a very perfect option to solve this Inequality. “The researchers further recommend
that companies institute training to help employees learn about what gender bias is and how to
combat it”. [ CITATION Lea \l 1033 ]

3. Practicing more organizational ethics: For no. 3 question a survey has been carried out to find
out the main person behind this Inequality problem in job sector. Majority of the people think
boss is the main person behind this problem. “These are bosses who lied, gossiped about their
staff to other staff, broke confidences, fudged numbers to governmental agencies, botched payroll
tax withholdings and covered it up, and willfully and recklessly turned a blind eye to leadership
abuse.” [ CITATION Cry14 \l 1033 ] I think sometimes colleagues are also responsible for this.
This is a very devastating problem for an organization. So this problem can be solved by
practicing more organizational ethics by the members of the organizations.

4. Changing in mentality of society: For no. 4 question a survey has been conducted to bring out
the percentage of Inequality faces most by men or women. Most of the people believe that
women are the main victim of Inequality problem. . “Sexual harassment can happen to both men
and women. The perpetrator may be of the same or opposite sex, and may be a supervisor, a co-
worker, or even a non-employee” [ CITATION Dav \l 1033 ]. This happens because of our Male
dominated society. So change in mentality of society can solve this problem.

5. Rules should be maintained strictly: For no. 5 question a research has been carried out to find
out the problem one faces because of Inequality. Majority of the people assume that lower chance
of promotion one can face because of inequality. I think one can also face sexual harassment
because of inequality. This problems are really unfortunate for company and damage its
reputation. “The result is a workforce with a nearly equal number of women and men at the entry
level, but a widening gap as workers climb the ranks.” [ CITATION Nat16 \l 1033 ] So, rules of the
organization should be maintained strictly to solve this.

14
6. Percentage should be decreased by maintaining Govt. law : For no. 6 question a research has
been conducted to find out the percentage of inequality in the job sector. Majority of the people
think the percentage is between 30-40% which is very high. This rate can be minimized by
maintain the Government law which is imposed for the organization about inequality.

7. Increasing personal income: For no. 7 question a survey has been conducted to find out the
impact of inequality in economic growth. Majority of the people think because of decreasing in
GDP economic growth decreases. So by increasing in personal income GDP will increase and
also economy.

8. Ensuring equal right: For no. 8 question a research has been carried out to find out the solution
of Inequality. Majority of the believe Inequality can be eradicate by ensuring equal right. This is a
very good solution if we can established it. Because without ensuring equal right we cannot solve
this problem. “Not only girls and women must be courageous to demand their rights. Boys and
men need to break stereotypes and stand up for gender equality.” [ CITATION Ari17 \l 1033 ]. So to
solve this problem equal right should be ensured for everyone.

9. Government can come forward to solve Inequality: For no. 9 question a survey has been
conducted to find out the role of government to solve inequality problem. Here, Majority of the
people think that government can do All of the above options which are raising social awareness,
establish appropriate law and sponsor in anti-inequality events. It’s a social problem so
government can solve this by raising awareness. Govt. can also establish appropriate law to solve
this problem.

10. Surveyor’s suggestion/opinion: For no. 10 a survey has been carried out to find out some
suggestion from the surveyors. I have received some very important suggestion from them. Here
they said NGO’s can play important part to decreases inequality, mentality should be changed of
men and women which is very much important because mentality is a big problem for this
Inequality problem. By creating awareness among common people this problem can be eradicate
and finally remove gender discrimination from the society can be a very good solution to solve
inequality problem.

15
Conclusion: Inequality is an alarming problem now-a-days in Bangladesh. This is increasing
significantly in the job sector. For this problem men and women are not treated equality in job sector. By
Decreasing the GDP and personal income of a person it is hampering the development and economy of
our country. Government and industry owners are trying to solve this problem but unfortunately
Inequality is increasing. Because we live in a male dominated society and so here men always try to
dominate everywhere as well as in the job sector. But now it is high time to take action against it. Men
should change their mentality of dominating women especially in job sector. Government should imposed
law for Inequality because now it is turning into a national problem. Creating social awareness can also
play a vital role here to stop this problem.
