Here is the summary of feedback that I got for my proposal entitiled “Improving Students

Reading Comprehension Through S3QR Technique”.

 First, in the background, I should directly start the paragraph with the topic being
researched that is reading and should not be too general by mentioning other English
skills.
 Second, the problem that I mentioned doesn’t make sense. I should explain the
specific problem being faced by the students and should be able to relate the problem
with the solution (my technique). For example, the students are stuggle to find main
ideas in reading so that I come up with new teaching technique that can really help
students finding main ideas that is SQ3R technique. I need to be able to connect my
believe that this technique can tackle down the problem.
 Third, the research question should be: How the use of SQ3R technique can improve
students reading comprehension?
 Fourth, in literature review I should have a subtopic explaining the skill in reading
comprehension in order to complete the explanation of teaching reading
comprehension and teaching reading comprehension by using SQ3R technique.
 Fifth, I shouldn’t seperate the explanation of teaching and reading. Before talking
about teaching, I should talk about learning first to define teaching then go down to
teaching because it is an interconnected idea. I should be able to link those topics
smoothly.
 Sixth, I need to spend more pages talking about teaching reading comprehension.
 Seventh, SQ3R technique is considered as a common and old teaching technique. It
mostly has no difference with the usual teaching technique. Therefore, I should be
able to tell the significance of this technique (what makes this technique different
from other technique) and why this technique still relevant to be applied today.
 Eighth, I should put the previous study from FKIP instead of other region because the
students nowadays and in the past are likely to have the same learning context. In this
case I need to be able to emphasize why I still need to apply this technique at this
present time.
 Ninth, in page 15, the picture that I put should be bigger and the citation must not be
forgotten.
 Tenth, the explanation of tools of data collection need to be more specific and more
informative. I need to explain what is it and how it will work in my research
specifically.
 I did some mistake in a text made when it was typed in the in the references. This
kind of things must be avoided.
