Conduct “Toolbox Talks” By site execution team and

Workers along with safety personals

Toolbox talks are casual gatherings that focus on one small aspect of safety. They are
very specific talks, and should be led by site execution team and Workers. These are
not long meetings, but rather 5 to 10-minute of gatherings all can get benefits like.

1. To start each day with the right attitude

Every day accidents can happen. By starting each day with a quick 5 or 10 minute
toolbox talk, it serves as a reminder about the importance of health and safety at work.

2. To stay up to date

If there has been a change in regulations, or introducing a new tool or substance, it is

important to keep the team up to date. A quick toolbox talk can be used to communicate
any updates or changes.

3. To stay alert

To be safe at work, you need to be alert to the health and safety hazards and risks
around you. A daily toolbox talk will keep the team alert, by raising awareness before
work starts.

9. To grow a positive health and safety culture

Growing a positive health and safety culture takes time and effort, and everyone’s
involvement. Regular toolbox talks can form part of the health and safety management
system to do this.

Implementation:- If TBT hard copy not available with Site supervisor then NCR should be raised by
Safety officer and if 3 NCR are raised for the same then Strict action like warning letter with penalty
can be issued to the person.
2. Perform Regular Job Safety Analysis at site.
A Job Safety Analysis (JSA) is a breakdown of every step involved in completing a
particular task, along with the hazards that are present during each step. Finally, the
actions your employees can take to mitigate those hazards can reduce incidents and
improve overall safety.

3. Reward safety

Incentives and rewards for employees and workers are just one of the ways
in which we can encourage good health and safety on site. Giving out small
rewards to employees who follow safety procedures provides them with
recognition, which in turn keeps them thinking about keeping safe.

This can make a big difference in reducing your workplace injuries

Workers to be rewarded at site in presence of Project manager/Project

director and same to be displayed in HSE boards.

Employee to be rewarded at site in presence of Project manager/Project

director and same to be displayed in HCC portal.

Create a Safety Metrics Dashboard

Safety Goals are great, but how do employees know if they are meeting or
exceeding those goals? Create a safety dashboard that shows the top 1 – 5
safety metrics, display it in a prominent place and make sure it is
continuously updated on a regular basis

13.  Implement a Hazard Reporting System

Design an effective way for employees to report safety hazards found in the
workplace. Once identified, follow through with eliminating each hazard to
create a safer workplace for everyone. We have PSOP, DSR in IMS portal
where we can report hazard and give mitigation measures to eliminate it.

PSOP:

1) Observations posted in PSOP round should be complied within time

frame by concerned department. If they neglects or fails to comply the
given observation then they should be charged by safety violation.

E.g. Deduction of 30% of one day salary

Suspension for 1 day etc.

By enforcing we can make them to close high risk observations.

2) Another thing which is missing in our PSOP system is that the concerned
department does not get any appreciation if he complies the given
observation within time. A small email/message can work as a
reward/compliment.

16.  Implement a Safety Audit Program

A safety audit evaluates safety programs and practices within an

organization and makes a determination on where improvements can be
made. Reviewing the company’s safety goals during the audit can be
beneficial.

18.  Conduct Incident Investigations

Start or improve your incident investigation procedure. Ensure you are

correcting the issue that caused the incident and also adding in preventive
measures in the workplace that will prevent the same incident from
occurring in the future.

19. Post safety bulletins in high-visibility areas. Break rooms, lobbies and
dining facilities are perfect places to display safety messages. Choose
bright, eye-catching posters to spark discussions. Sponsoring an annual
safety poster design and caption contest will ensure ongoing access to
creative material.

20. Give incentives when workers remain safe. Honor departments with low
incidents of accidents and most improved safety records. Set up challenges
to encourage staff to make safety an ongoing concern. An example is
providing an extra vacation day to all workers if the staff can go 100 days
without an accident.
