REPORT ON LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

A field that has become common by name only recently but has been
in practice since a long time, which is landscape architecture.
Consider a hunter that making his shelter in a new part of the jungle.
The way he clears the land is in some way or the other similar to what
we do under this title. Landscape architecture can be defined as the
way in which we design the land and place objects on it for our use.
But an author Bradford Williams who explained this ,thinks that this
definition does not exactly tell us what we want to know or about the
history or about what it means to us in our existence. A short analysis
can be done from three different points.
In olden times there was no such thing as landscape, it was just
gardening. Gardening is something that has been there since along
time. Before plants were just where they grew but slowly they were
also given forms and patterns. This is how landscape architecture
started but we don’t have any monuments or anything to look upon to
know more about it. All that we have are certain pictures that we can
use for reference.
Over the period of civilisations the changes can be observed in the
gardens in different buildings. The changes reflected the physical
features of the country and social life. And different civilisations get
famous because of some of that style such as a Moorish garden in
Spain.
Whether given importance or not landscape plays an important role in
our lives. Its affects our minds and happiness, even though we may
not feel so. Nowadays people try to go to places that offer more of
natural beauty, green trees, lakes etc. To make this true govt’s have
started coming up with new ideas in which landscape architecture
plays a big role. Main branches where we see that this is used is
houses, parks and huge cities. But there are other places also where it
gets used such as public buildings, play grounds and athletic grounds.
Landscape architecture is unique in the fact that we work on living
matter and soil but the consequence is the limitations because of the
same thing that makes it unique. Trees take years to grow so a design
to get complete will take along time. But even then its slowly growing
as a field.
