Running Head: Protect Purdue Initiative

Good morning students and friends.

I sincerely hope you’ll bear with me while I temporarily take off this irritating yet necessary face

mask.

I’m here today to introduce to you our Protect Purdue initiative, and our chief medical officer of

the Protect Purdue Health Center (PPHC), Dr. Esteban Ramirez.

During this global pandemic, it is incredibly important that we come together as friends and

partners in this learning journey to maintain a healthy academic environment dedicated to future

growth. By preventing the communicable spread of COVID-19 we can ensure that our energy

and focus remains in the classroom and not in quarantine.

In order to ensure we are doing all that is possible to protect our Purdue community, all

undergraduate, graduate, and professional program students returning to campus, along with all

students living on campus this fall, will be required to test for COVID-19.

Dr. Ramirez will speak to you in detail about the Protect Purdue initiative and the requirements

and resources that will be provided. Please keep in mind that the University will cover costs of

all student testing.

Please stay safe and know that I look forward to seeing everyone healthy, happy, and engaged in

learning this coming year. Now I will hand the platform over to Dr. Ramirez.
