COURSE PREREQUISITES:

Basic computer handling skills: Prior knowledge of using computers and internet will be helpful.
Students who have familiarity of using computers and internet, will find it easier to learn when
compared to those who have never used a computer. Students who have never used a computer, are
expected to be few and the course will provide special support to such students during lab hours.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Spreadsheet brings active learning to practice through the use of practical and theory. Spreadsheet is
a simple tool that prepares ground for powerful analysis and is an essential arsenal in a manager’s
decision making tool box. The purpose of the course is to make the student proficient at using excel
for data analysis at a beginner to intermediate level. It is a practice based online and classroom format
targeted for a beginner, helping them to get prepared for the next level of skills. The constructivist
learning approach of this course expects, students to take control of the learning and is expected to be
a self-driven learner who is disciplined and comes prepared to the class. The course expects the
students to spend 15 hours off classroom learning, 30 hours of practical lab learning and 15 hours of
lecture based interactive and project learning. The student is expected to attain basic proficiency in
excel on course completion.

COURSE OUTCOMES: On successful completion of the course the students shall be able to:

2. Illustrate formatting and editing capabilities on the data
3. Demonstrate basic calculations and save data
4. Demonstrate basic visualizing, analysing, organising and sharing techniques

responsibility to update themselves regarding course related information by regularly going through

The students may use the latest edition of text books and reference books. The students should be
present in all the lectures and practical sessions to be held in the computer lab during the semester.
Absence would be allowed only in an unavoidable situation such as extreme personal illness, injury,
or close family bereavement etc.
