Schematic of the solenoid valve (No. 2)

This diagnostic code is for the solenoid valve (No. 2).

This diagnostic code is recorded when the voltage of the solenoid circuit is above normal.

System Response:

When this diagnostic code is active, the ECM will turn off current to the failed solenoid. Only gears that use this solenoid
will be allowed to operate by the power train ECM.

Test Step 1. CHECK THE SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO THE +BATTERY CIRCUIT.

A. Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position.

B. Disconnect the machine harness from the solenoid.

C. Disconnect the machine harness connectors J1 and J2 from the ECM.

D. At machine harness connector J1, measure the resistance from contact J1-17 (solenoid signal) to all possible
sources of positive voltage.

Expected Result:

Each resistance should be greater than 5000 ohms.

Results:

OK - Each resistance is greater than 5000 ohms. The machine harness is correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.

NOT OK - Each resistance is not greater than 5000 ohms.

Repair: There is a short in the machine harness. The short is between J1-17 (754-BU) and the circuit that has a
low resistance measurement. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.

STOP

Test Step 2. CHECK IF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE IS STILL ACTIVE.

A. Remove connectors J1 and J2 from the ECM.

B. Perform the following:

Inspect the contacts of the harness connectors.

Clean the contacts of the harness connectors.

C. Reconnect all harness connectors.

D. Turn the key start switch to the ON position.

E. Operate the machine.

F. Stop the machine and place the parking brake switch in the OFF position.

G. Determine if the diagnostic code of CID 1402 FMI 03 is present.

Expected Result:

The diagnostic code of CID 1402 FMI 03 is present.

Results:

OK - The diagnostic code of CID 1402 FMI 03 is present.

Repair: The problem has not been corrected. It is unlikely that the ECM has failed. Perform the previous Steps
again. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the power train ECM. See the Troubleshooting,
"Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace" Story in this manual for additional information.

STOP

NOT OK - The diagnostic code of CID 1402 FMI 03 is not present.

Repair: The problem does not exist at this time. Resume normal machine operation.

STOP
