(Check pressure relief fitting (located opposite side from lube fitting) to be sure it has not been damaged or plugged. 1000 HOURS @ (Check bar magnets on drain plug (metal particles on magnets [could indicate excessive bearing wear). | SNAP RING "O*-RING SS HOLDING RING WASH PIPE PACING ARRANGEMENT ‘Whenever it becomes necessary to replace the wash pipe packing, be sure on the assembly that the new O-Ring is installed on top and Be bottom of the packing system and that the finished arrangement looks like the picture at the left. Inspect all parts for excessive wear, corrosion or washout; particularly the wash pipe holding ring splines and snap groove. Hand pack grease into cavities formed by each packing lip and spacer before placing into service. “O*-RING es 7 : PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES The swivel sub-connection should be checked for metal-to-metal (shouldered) tightness to avoid thread damage or failure. If flow from oil drain hole becomes restricted, this indicates an accumulation of contaminants that could shorten bearing life. Swivel should be disassembled and thoroughly cleaned and inspected. Bail pins should be greased with bail in rest position to allow flow to heavy load carrying areas. Main bearings should be checked for damage after jarring operations. Proper grounding procedures should be taken if welding on swivel to avoid arcing across bearings. Always store swivel in upright position with a full fresh change of oil to prevent bearing corrosion.
