Dear Members of the Search Committee,

It is my pleasure to recommend Saepudin Ibrahimsyah for admission to The Global Undergraduate

Exchange Program (Global UGRAD scholarships) at the U.S. I am a Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the
University of Lampung, Indonesia. I came to know Saepudin when I was his lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry
II class, and now he is my Undergraduate Student Academic protege for Inorganic Chemistry. As I know,
Saepudin distinguished himself by submitting an exceptionally well researched and interesting project on
waste of Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa. I would rank him in the top 2% of students that I have taught in
the past one year in respect of his ability and skills in chemistry.

Overall, Saepudin are highly intelligent and has good knowledge. He was an olimpiad student in chemistry.
He gave a particularly interesting discussion of the difficult theory about atoms, reactions, waves, and etc. It
proves by his final score at first and second semester in inorganic chemistry that he gained average score is
90. His overall intelligence is also reflected in his grades for the course, which were by far the best in the
class.

Saepudin has excellent communication and leadership skills. He was highly proficient in applying the course
material in analyzing the problem situations. He always explained his views very concisely and gave
supporting arguments that were both clear and persuasive in discussion. Saepudin also demonstrated good
teamwork skills in group assignments, not only that, I know that he is a class leader which manage the
class’s affairs, active in students organization at campus such a English Society and also I know that he was
an Interschool Student Organization Leader from his CV.

At a personal level, Saepudin is a well dilligent, an initiative. He is being a part of tutor in olimpiad
guidance institution for senior high students, I well apreciate him because I understand this work is one of
his pride to help his parent’s financial, because I know he is awardee of Bidikmisi scholarship, the
scholarship for unlucky student in financial.

Saepudin is unquestionably an exceptional candidate for undergraduate study in chemistry and has good
experience in leadership. But I believe he could be more gained much knowledges and experiences from the
Global UGRAD scholarship in the U.S. I would therefore highly recommend Saepudin Ibrahimsyah. If his
performance in my class and campus are good indications of how he would perform as a undergraduate
student, he would be an extremely positive asset and appropriate candidate to your program.
