Statement of Purpose

My name is Basim Ahmad. I am from the City of Chenab Nagar, Pakistan. I have always been a bright
student in my academic career. I completed my Matriculation in 2016 from Nasir Higher Secondary
School, Chenab Nagar and secured 781marks out of 1100. I did my Intermediate from Nusrat Jahan
College, Chenab Nagar in 2018 by securing 764 marks out of 1100. I am currently enrolled in BS Mass
Communication Program at University of Sargodha. I have passed 7 semesters and have a CGPA of 3.58.
I am hopeful that I will pass the degree with good grades soon.

No matter where you study in the UK, you will find something to do. Pubs, sports venues, markets,
concerts and art galleries are just some of the places you can visit when you are not studying. There are
many other factors that make UK as a best option for international students like work opportunities,
affordable living costs and interacting with people form diverse backgrounds. All these things make UK
the best option for higher studies.
I have selected Coventry University because it is a prestigious and well-reputed education institution in
the world as well as in the UK. It has been a famous University for Quality education provider for a long
time. University has maintained good global ranks both nationally and worldwide. University has got the
queen’s award for enterprise for international trade 2022. It is considered a modern university for career
prospects and got a position top 30 in the world for international students’ ratio according to QS World
University Ranking 2022. Coventry University has been Awarded Gold for outstanding Teaching and
Learning. Currently, University consists of over 31,690 students who come to study from all around the
globe. We have 4000 trained staff who is helping the students during their study period. The alumni
network is very vast as they have 170,000 graduate students who have been connected with the university.
City of Coventry and the Campus location is also prefect for international students and this has also been
a reason I have selected this University. City of Coventry has rich history and diverse population,
Coventry is a vibrant, affordable city. Campus is located at the heart of Coventry, so everything you need
is within a few minutes’ walk. And with most first-year student accommodation either on or very close to
campus, it will never be far from where a student want to go. I personally know some students who
studied in Coventry University and they also recommeded me to join this University.
Politics has always been a field that affects every individual in any society but the understanding the
complex power structures and their working mechanism is something which very few are able to
comprehend. Politics is the study of power; who has it, how they use it and how it can be controlled and
held accountable. During my BS Mass Communication I understood that politics is the field in which I
have the most interest and I have the skills to study it to the highest level and can contribute in this field. I
have selected this course because academic excellence in this course is very evident from certain factors.
This course, MA Politics, seemed to me exactly what I wanted to study. I want to understand the every
important aspect of the politics at global level and this course covers every aspect of the politics,
ideologies, individuals and and global political system. The course offers an interdisciplinary
postgraduate programmed that goes well beyond the range of topics typically associated with politics with
a pure political syllabus. The course is one-year programme with two principal themes; national politics
and international political order. There are ten compulsory modules which revolve around these two basic
themes. During each of the first two semesters, there are four modules to be studied which are built
around the two principal themes of the course: national politics and the international political order. . The
modules to be studies are very new and not offered in many universities. Politics modules include
advanced topics covering urgent contemporary issues through up-to-date research and analysis, such as
Democracy and Democratic Breakdown, 21st Century Populism and The Changing Nature of War and
Terrorism. Experts from the fields of History and International Relations support other core modules in
War and Terrorism, Resilience in the International System, Threats to Global Security and Gender and
Social Change in 20th Century Britain. The modules of this course are very related to current issues and
are not just based on only old theoretical work.
There are wide range of career paths that can be pursued after completing this course. I might get a job at
any educational institution, civil serivice, international organistions like United Nations, Diplomactic
jobs, Journalsim and media related fields, as a political advisor, in any governmental department, culture
industry, non-governmanetal organisations, campaigning and advocacy, culture industry or pursue my
career as a researcher. My aim has always been to understand the current political problems and
contribute in providing theri remedy so it can be in any way or any job.
After completion of the aforementioned program, I plan on returning to my motherland because this
degree will broaden my exposure to cutting-edge knowledge and make me able to comprehed and deal
with future challenges in the global politics. This degree will help me in securing a respectable job in
leading eduactional institutions or any public office like in foreign office, get associated to ajy media firm
and many more options. I want to contribute in the development of my country so this is course will
develop expertise and knowledge that will make me better understand the political problems of my
country and to devise a solution to it.
