Statement of Purpose

My name is Amir Razzaq s/o Abdul Razzaq. I was born in Bahawalnagar. However, for higher
studies, I moved to Lahore city. I completed my HSSC in 2016 From the Board of Intermediate
& Secondary Education Bahawalpur, Pakistan. I am a student of the undergraduate program in
Computer Science at Bahria University (accredited by NCEAC), Lahore, which is one of the
premier institutes in PAKISTAN. After completing my bachelor’s, my passion for the field
developed and I wanted to explore my choices within the less programming extensive side of
the discipline hence I wish to pursue my graduate studies (M.S in Information Technology) at
Swinburne university for better achievements in life.

Since childhood, I took a deep interest in things around me, which included cricket, swimming,
tennis, basketball, and a lot more. But the one thing that has remained permanent since I
started to find interest in is the love for computers. They inspire me to not only learn more but to
improve them and contribute to their development – payback for what they have done for me
since childhood. I acquired an interest in knowing the logic part of computers more since my
graduation in the subject. The reason why I am choosing Swinburne University is that it is not
only a reputed institution of learning, but it also guarantees an in-depth education in the subject
of my interest. To be a part of a curriculum and a learning environment like this would only be a
dream come true.  

I started with the python programming language during my school days, where I would create
many simple logical programs. Gradually, I moved to the ‘BASIC’ language. In summer break
after HSSC, I learned about C++. In my initial years of an undergraduate, I learned ‘Photoshop’,
and edited photos. During my studies of undergraduate, I started freelancing with my friend.
Where I provided virtual assistant services on different platforms In the final year of
undergraduate, I am working on a big project with my team member which is based on medical
treatment. The project is based on python, in which users will know about his disease by
entering symptoms. This project is also for the disabled. In which speech to text and text to
speech feature is included. The ultimate result was a comprehensive guide for parents and
students highlighting the various opportunities for students in High School and Senior
Secondary School Level. 

I explored numerous universities in Australia, however, I chose Swinburne University for my

Master’s studies in Information Technology. Swinburne University is ranked 21st in Australia
due to the exceptional student experience it has provided to international students. Moreover,
the University has a robust student union body which has allowed students from different
cultures to easily cope up with new surroundings and focus on education. Furthermore,
Swinburne University is renowned for its technical department, mostly it’s IT and engineering
departments who have innovated and produced numerous research outcomes, hence their
reputation for academic excellence in Australia.
Master’s of Information technology at Swinburne University will help me to develop a specialized
skill set which is an important aspect of being an IT specialist. The modules that I’ll be learning
at Swinburne University will range from web application programming to data security and cloud
computing. The knowledge gained in these modules will help me gain significant theoretical
knowledge which will be needed as an IT professional. Moreover, the module of project
management will allow me to gain critical thinking skills, which correlates with my future plans
as well. It will serve to broaden my creative horizons and provide me with an insight into how
computers are used to design and implement software. By studying Masters in Information
Technology at Swinburne University, I would be able to become more efficient, which will also
contribute to the development of skills required for a successful career in IT. The various
research areas that I’ll explore in the University, I associate myself with Data Security, Cloud
Computing, and related subjects. I have understood from the Swinburne University website that
there are several research labs and centers, specifically the Center for Cybersecurity Research
and Research Lab on cloud computing. 

I have chosen Australia as my final destination for my higher education because it’s one of the
best destinations for international students. Australia boasts cultural diversity, friendly natives,
and quality education. Moreover, Australian universities are renowned for providing top-notch
facilities to their international students. All of these factors have lured me into deciding Australia
as my destination for my higher education. Furthermore, apart from academic life, as a student,
I’ll be able to experience a tremendously dynamic social life due to the internal activities carried
out by the university. With all that said, I’m very satisfied with choosing Australia for continuing
my educational journey where I’ll hope to indulge in an exceptional academic and social
experience as a student.

After completing my degree of Master in Information Technology, I’ll be coming back to my

home country Pakistan where I’ll be able to bag a job within a multi-national company. As
multinational companies, even local companies prefer candidates who hold a foreign degree
over local degrees as local institutions have low educational standards. Therefore, with the
completion of my degree in Australia, I’ll be able to jump-start my career after coming back to
my home country Pakistan.

My parents since the beginning have supported me finically throughout my academic journey.
My parents plan to sponsor my stay and education in Australia. As my parents have been an
advocate of higher education from foreign universities. Hence, all the funds provided by my
parents will be used for my accommodation and lodging purposes only. And I’ll make sure to
follow all rules and regulations set by my University and visa.

I implore Swinburne University to provide me with an opportunity to be apart of their student

community, as I can assure you that I’ll be a great addition to the University student body.
