This document serves as instructions for entering in the *DHEAP parameter into the VX820.

Please attempt to follow these instructions yourself ONLY TO DEVICES

THAT ARE AFFECTED WITH A BOOT LOOP!
If a device is behaving normally, these instructions are not needed.
If you attempt the instructions and are unable to re-configure device,
then please reach out to support for assistance.
If these steps don’t work the first time, please try again at least 2 more
times.
***If the screen is stuck on the black VMAC screen then they will need
to power cycle the device (pull plug) to get it to reboot and then they
will get to the Verifone Copyright screen. All steps need to be done
quickly.
On the pin pad perform the following in order

1. From the copyright screen, Press and hold the #7 key and the Green Button ( Enter Key )
2. A Screen will appear asking for a password.

Enter in the password 166831 then press the Green Button as depicted in image above.

*** Note: If password is entered in incorrectly, the unit will begin to recycle again or not promptly,
you will need to start from Step 1. ***

3. From the Main menu, using the keypad, Select # 2 Edit Parameters
4. The Group ID screen will appear next as shown below:

When This screen appears press the Green Button

5. You will be prompted to enter in the Password again. As performed in Step 2, enter in the password 166831,
followed by the Green Button

6. The following screen will appear. It simply says Config.Sys.

To continue press the Green Button

7. The following Screen appears. Using the keypad, Press #1 to enter in a new Value
8. You will need to type in the new Value using the keypad. For the new parameter that is required you need to
enter in:

*DHEAP

*** Note: You MUST have the asterisk before the word DHEAP. ***

*** Note: to enter in the letters, you will need to press the number key to cycle through the options. For
example, hitting the #3 key twice will get you the letter D. ***

*** Note: If you happen to make a mistake typing in the name, the Yellow Arrow moves you back one space.
***

Once you have entered in the word *DHEAP, press the Green Button to continue.

9. The following Screen will appear:

Using the keypad, Press the #2 key one time.

Once the # 2 key has been pressed the screen will look like this:

10. When the screen matches as above, press the Green Button to continue. It will take you back one screen
and you should see this as your result:

11. If your screen matches the image above, press the RED X button on the pin pad until you reach the main
menu screen.
12. From the main menu screen, using the keypad, press #1 button on the pin pad to restart the device:

13. The device will recycle once and get out of the boot loop.

14. The device will reload/reboot and take you back to the Welcome screen. Once complete proceed to step 15.

15. PLEASE REBOOT THE POS TERMINAL
