Coloured touch screen

General
A coloured touch screen is fixed on the lecturer’s table in each and every lecture hall, which will
allow the user to switch on, switch off of all lighting circuits and to dim certain lighting circuits within
the particular lecture hall. This is the primary lighting control device in the lecture hall.

Loading Screen
If the lighting control system is switching ON for the first time, or in case of a power interruption and
restoration, the Loading sign will appear in the touch screen. This will take around 30-60 seconds till
it appears the Home Screen, depending on the number of lighting circuits installed with the lighting
control panel.

Be patient till it gets to the home screen......

If somebody can’t wait until the touch screen is loading, can switch on the lamps by using the
Manual Push Button Switches explained in a later section in this document.

Home Screen
After the loading screen, the home screen will be appeared. This will allow the user to go to
switching pages, settings, clock etc.

Password Screen
After the home screen has appeared, from the fist touch on the screen, user will be prompted to
enter the security password. This has set to a default of “12345” and can be changed in any time
with the help of a technician.

Switching Pages
The most common type of touch screens consists of several switching pages which consist of 10
different switching patterns inside the lecture hall. To enter the switching pages click on the
position illustrated below.

There are two types of light fittings installed in all lecture rooms.

1. LED/Fluorescent Lamps (Non dimmable)

2. Halogen Lamps (Dimmable)

In a usual lecture it is advised to switch ON only the LED or fluorescent lamps as halogens are more
power consuming. The halogens are to be used in a video presentation session or similar situation.
These halogens are dimmable and the user can set the lamps to a suitable lighting level according to
his session.

The touch screen will allow you to switch ON/OFF all circuits separately or as combinations. The
function of each switch is mentioned itself below the relevant switch line. Following Figures will
show the function of each switch.

1. All lamps On_Off – Switch ON/OFF all lamps at once (Both Halogen and LED).
2. Halogen lamps On_Off – Switch ON/OFF all halogen lamps.
3. Fluorescent lamps On_Off – Switch ON/OFF all fluorescent or LED lamps.
4. All halogen lamps dimming – All halogen lamps can be dim at once.
5. Dimming lamp set 01/02 – Halogen lamp circuit 01 or 02 can be dim separately.
6. On_Off lamps set 01/02/03/04 – Fluorescent or LED circuit 01 to 04 can be switch ON/OFF
separately.

Manual push buttons

General
The 8 push button manual switch is mounted under the lecturer’s table, as a secondary controller in
each lecture hall. This will be a useful item if a situation like touch screen malfunction or touch
screen not responding or not working at all.

Note: Combinations of several circuits are not programmed to push buttons.

Function of each push button

Out of 08 push buttons, first 06 buttons were pre programmed as illustrated below.

Maintenance & Care

Sensitiveness of the touch screen
This resistance based touch screen is not the smoothest as ones having with your smart phone. It’s a
bit ruggedized and will need a little bit more weight when touching it for operation comparing to the
smart phone screens. But, too much touch weight is not recommended as it can damage the
equipment.

Cleaning and Care

To keep the touch screen smooth and fast as much as possible, you need to clean it for dust and
moisture once a week. To clean the screen, strictly follow the instructions given below.

01. Use a Micro Fibre cloth to clean the screen

02. Turn off the device from the power panel before start the cleaning
03. Do not use any liquids other than a product specially manufactured for touch screen
cleaning.
04. Use a cotton piece of cloth moistens with pure water only if it is extremely necessary.

Calibration of the touch screen

Due to the nature of resistive touch screens, it is recommended to calibrate the touch screen once in
a quarter. Sometimes due to dirt, dust, moisture and wear make it to throw off the calibration. If this
happens, it will be very difficult to control the system and you may have to follow a trail and success
method even to get in to the calibration screen. So, it is advised to clean and calibrate the screen
periodically as instructed.

To enter the calibration mode, follow the below steps.

After that you will be asked to touch on few reference points and correct locations should be
provided as inputs.

Troubleshooting

Touch screen is not loading to home screen

1. If the screen is not loading or the backlight is not lit up, check the cable connector at the
back side of the touch screen with the help of a technician.
2. If the connection is good, reset the power from the power panel and wait for loading.
3. If the problem still persists, get the support from the equipment supplier.

Touch screen freeze

1. If the touch screen is freezes or not responding to your touches, reset the power from the
power panel and wait for loading.
2. If the problem still persists, get the support from the equipment supplier.
