Dear Diary: My Heart is racing To Buy A Car.

Case Facts:

 A young graduate student saving to buy a car.


 Touring Random dealerships and classified ads to come up with a decision.
 Budget constraints; A budget of US$5000-$6000.
 The choices of that student were narrowed to two used cars.
 Working in a packaging plant for 30 hours per week.
 Needed to buy a car this is functional, convenient and has large trunk.
 The car should also have good enough seating capacity for companions on a road trip.
 A dealer suggested to choose an SUV.
 The car show was 2000 Navy Honda CRV.
 Another alternative was Ford Mustang similar in price and gas consumption as of CRV.

Problems:

 Choice between Honda CRV and Ford Mustang.


 Comparison between two product’s prices, gas consumption, insurance premium and
functionality.
 Student’s deciding between to whether go for convenience or functionality.
 Keeping in view the personal and professional needs, have to make a rational choice.
 Decision between the inner and outer self.

Solutions:

 Considering the scenarios given the student should make a rational decision out the
circumstances given.
 Honda CRV would be a better car to buy.
 This car is under the student’s budget and gives functionality purpose and to an extent
convenience as well.
 As far Ford is concerned is more of a car that is used for only personal purposes not for
professional as a whole.
 Student if choose to buy Ford then have to rent another car on daily basis for delivering boxes
which is costly.
 Savings which student have and the circumstances Honda CRV is an appropriate car.
 To fulfill the desire of heart (which says Ford Mustang) can be fulfilled later with more savings in
future.
