Automatic Vehicle Classification
Kapsch AVC is a key element for assessment of the correct toll fee at toll plazas and ensures
accurate vehicle detection and classification, offering outstanding performance. Kapsch AVC
is based on infrared sensor technology for low maintenance classification.
Kapsch AVC is flexible in design and As part of its enforcement capability, nn Adaptable to multiple classification
supports changing classification schemes. Kapsch AVC detects abnormal vehicle schemes
The classification is based on axles, passage events, such as vehicle standing, nn Open system architecture enables
distance between axles, single and double reverse direction, reverse entry after integration of additional sensors
wheels and multiple vehicle heights. forward entry and reverse entry roll back. nn Temper protection
Kapsch AVC is comprised of a controller nn Auditable product
unit, sensors and specially-designed Features nn Serial communication protocol with TLC
software. nn Based on COTS components nn TCP/IP socket connection to DCS
nn IR technology instead of treadles nn Local storage of vehicle transaction
A well defined interface to the toll lane nn State of the art software development (limited only by hard disk capacity)
controller enables the exchange of vehicle nn Classification of multiple vehicle classes
related transaction and passage data
which is the base of consistent and
verifiable transactions. Additionally the
AVC can provide vehicle tracking
information for the toll lane controller.
Via a dedicated ethernet interface, Kapsch
AVC can report vehicle transactions
directly to the central systems, authorities
and toll plaza supervisors. This enables
monitoring and controlling of correct toll
payments to multiple points on different
hierarchies.
