Tiny things (10) make the difference !

De-minerlised water (conductivity 0.3-0.5 micro S/cm) for Boiler is circulating one. After steam
having worked on LP turbine is converted as condensate water in the condenser by sea water as
coolant. Micro puncture in condenser tube leaks sea water having conductivity of >40,000 based
on electrolytes in turn poisoning condensate water (0.3-0.5 micro S/cm ) proceeding to boiler with
partial rise in normal conductivity value which will not alarm the operator

Positive ions of sea water electrolytes passed from micro hole of condenser to condensate water
are absorbed at cation exchanger leaving SO4-- and Cl- which will amplify the cation conductivity
value to >10 micro S/cm alarming for early assessment of micro hole puncture in condenser tube

To check performance of cation conductivity measurement system, by adding a very small

quantity of sea water (in drops only) before the cation exchanger, huge variation in cation
conductivity due to acidic nature by cation resin can be seen
