Maersk Line & Star Cool CO2 Sensor Upgrade Procedure

This upgrade programme is for below container series:


MMAU All, please inspect according to below, if already installed Sensor id 446 please ensure that the unit is
marked according to step 3 in this procedure.
MNBU 315 150-8 – MNBU 334 414-8
MNBU 900 750-3 – MNBU 901 949-0

Please note there are containers in between, in this range which does already have the new CO2 sensor
(ID446) and therefore no sensor shall be replaced.

CO2 Sensor Upgrade kit number is 818115A. The content includes:

Old CO2 Sensor (ID 421 to be replaced) New CO2 Sensor (ID 446)

1. Removal of old CO2 Sensor

1.1. From outside: Remove the top right Evaporator Access Panel.
Alternatively
1.2. From inside (preferred): Remove top half of the Back Panel of the reefer machine.

1.3. Disconnect and dismount CO2 Sensor

1.4. Dismount CO2 Sensor

2. Mounting of new CO2 Sensor

2.1 Some Evaporators are already prepared for mounting of the new Sensor (se sketch below). If there are
no pre-drilled holes, drill 2 new holes using an ø4.0 mm drill. Please use the Drilling Template
included.

2.2 Mount the new CO2 Sensor (2 screws: 4.8x16) and connect it. Make sure to remove the cable so it is
NOT going through the hole in the centre panel of the evaporator coil. Collect the cables nicely using at
cable straps and make sure the cables are not touching the Evaporator Fins according to below
picture 2.

2.3 Remount Evaporator Access Panel or Back Panel of the reefer machine.

3. Marking on the unit ID.

Sign Co2 √ on the label in the cable room cover with a permanent marker.

4. Files & storing and further returning.

Keep the replaced parts on location stored in original box until further notice.

5. Estimations in MERC+

The reporting of the above must be done via MERC+. The STS code 1843 under MODE44 will allow 0.5 hours
per unit for the CO2 sensors replacement and only the P/N 818115A (Co2 sensor upgrade kit) shall be
submitted with that STS code.
The upgrade kits (818115A) will be supplied by MCI in free and ML will pay 0.01 USD on the part price via
MERC+ as well.

The new CO2 sensor’s serial number shall be input during the work order completion.

And it shall be input in this filed during the work order completion,
