Dear Mrs. Lombardi,

Thank you again for your interest in our design. Below we have laid out how our
development leads you through the Vancouver area. We will begin by going through
our experience as a whole and moving into the signature attraction.
For our proposal, we decided to not just go with a ride, but a whole experience
for the guest that ties in an optional attraction. Making it an experience grounds the
narrative in a way that is unique to each visitor. Before a guest enters the area they will
need to buy a ticket from the lobby to proceed, and pay extra if the guest wants to ride
the optional attraction. When paying for the optional attraction, guests are asked for a
phone number and will text them when their personalized experience is ready for them.
This can be achieved using a service like tablesready.com or hostmeapp.com for free. If
a guest does not have access to a phone, they will be given a buzzer that will alert them
when they are ready to go.
The adventure begins when guests walk into the 1850’s themed town which is
centered around the gold rush era near the Fraser River, where they have the
opportunity to experience what living during that time period was like. Going through the
town, guests will find lockers for your
items, a saloon, a restaurant, and a
gold panning experience. The lockers
are where they can hold your items
while walking through the many themed
areas within the building and even the
optional attraction. In the saloon, they
will find actors that you can drink and
interact with. In the gold panning
experience, guests will be able to pan
for gold, which will be fools gold to keep
costs down. In the restaurant, guests
will be able to have a meal where they can eat fresh fish from the Fraser river and be
able to look out upon the vast landscape most have yet to explore.
When leaving the 1850’s themed town through the midway, guests will see a
transition into a mountainous area where they will learn about the settlers that had to
cross the rocky mountains to settle in Vancouver. The guests will also learn about the
animals that live in the mountains as well as where the river starts its journey. After
moving past the mountainous area, guests will find themself in a forest where the river
gets a little wider as more water accumulates, and here they will learn about the native
Canadians that occupied the space as well as the animals that resided there. Finally,
the guests will move through the forest and the guests will find themselves at the river
itself, where they will learn about the fish and the circle of life within the river. In order to
power the river, we will have two pumps
supplying and cycling water. We will
also have a skylight during the day to
allow the plants in the space to survive.
At this point, the guests can go
forward to the optional experience,
which is a deep-sea adventure off the
coast of Vancouver. Guests will start by
boarding a cylindrically shaped elevator
where they will be taken to the second
floor of the building while thinking they
are diving deep below the water due to
screen technology and practical effects like what could have been seen at The Living
Seas at EPCOT Center in the hydrolators. During the pre-show, there will be a narrator
and a screen explaining what the mission is.
The attraction is an interactive simulator that will take guests under the water to
explore the deep sea and what it has to offer. Guests will begin by entering a deep-sea
sub that can fit up to four guests. Personal belongings can be stored in the cabin if
guests did not utilize a locker. When the experience begins, guests will have a panel to
choose what adventure they want to have. The choices are a gold searching adventure,
a fish and landmark searching adventure, and
finally a pollution and sustainability adventure.
Within all three choices, guests will be
educated and entertained through the whole
experience. On top of the guest being able to
pick their own experience, they steer the sub
themselves. Using interactive controls in the
sub, guests are able to control direction,
speed, and control of the arms. The attraction
starts when the back door of the cabin closes
and the Kuka arm attached to the submarine
pulls it under the water to a screen that will
start their personalized and immersive
experience and lasts a total of 8 minutes. Bubbles will be used to simulate them
submerging. During the experience, guests rack up points that they can use to unlock
and purchase special items in the gift shop after the experience is over. Special items
can only be purchased if a group is able to get to a certain point threshold. After the
attraction ends, the submarine resurfaces, and guests exit to a pair of elevators that
take you back to the surface using the same type of technology, but these elevators are
instead cubic, and not cylindrical.
Through the use of our ride system, our queue system, our interactive
experiences throughout the 1850’s town, we believe this is the best way to educate the
next generation.
If you have any questions about our development, please let us know. Thank
you.
