Electrical Gadgets and their uses at Home

1. Vacuum cleaner

A vacuum cleaner, also known simply as a vacuum, is a device that causes suction in order to

remove debris from floors, upholstery, draperies and other surfaces. It is generally electrically

driven.

The dirt is collected by either a dustbag or a cyclone for later disposal. Vacuum cleaners, which

are used in homes as well as in industry, exist in a variety of sizes and models—small battery-

powered hand-held devices, wheeled canister models for home use, domestic central vacuum

cleaners, huge stationary industrial appliances that can handle several hundred litres of dust

before being emptied, and self-propelled vacuum trucks for recovery of large spills or removal of

contaminated soil. Specialized shop vacuums can be used to suck up both dust and liquids.
2. Computers

It can be used for entertainment purposes, which would be games, music, TV, movies, ETC.

Communications. Computers can be used to send messages back and forth in different ways,

typically IM, but there are other methods such as IRC networks and social media websites.

Productivity. Computers can allow people to work at home for some jobs, or they can do other

productive tasks that may not necessarily be part of a job. Programming, investing, accounting,

ETC

Research and reference. Computers allow you to search the internet for whatever information you

want to find.

You may notice that many of these tasks can be done by other devices. Many devices exist that

may do a single task, or some non-laptop/desktop devices, such as smart phones can also do

most of this. But if you ask me, desktops and laptops are more flexible in what they do, as you can

work with more screen space, work with better input (Keyboard + mouse for writing a paper vs a

touch screen), or perform higher end applications of certain tasks (A phone can only handle low

end games, for example. Computers could play higher end games).
3. Electric Fans

Electric fans are used to regulate interior temperatures. People commonly use them during hot

and humid summer days to increase air movement throughout a home. Some electric fans are

movable and can be put on a desk or on the floor. Larger models are permanently installed on

the ceiling. Electric ceiling fans are sometimes used in the winter to circulate warmer air back down

from the ceiling.

The primary purpose of domestic fans is to increase comfort during hot and sticky weather. While

fans don't actually decrease the temperature of the air, they help to increase the rate of

evaporation on the skin, and make the air feel cooler than it actually is. While heat is the main

factor in the level of comfort or discomfort of air, it is also affected by humidity and staleness.

Fans help to keep air moving and bring fresh air into a home, making the indoor environment

more pleasant.
