POSTER PRESENTATION
(RESEARCH PROJECT)
The following are the mechanics and the guidelines that should be followed by the poster presenters.
1. The presenter shall personally layout and print the poster in tarpaulin. Poster in tarpaulin should be 1 ½’
wide and 3’ long (4.5 square feet).
2. The presenter shall include the abstract title, author names, the department, and university where the
work was completed. In large letters centered at the top of the poster.
3. No computers, cell phones or extra aids may be used during a poster presentation.
4. Presenter must lay poster sections in a logical order so that attendees can follow the presentation with
ease. A good method is setting up the poster in a column format so that the individuals interested can
read the poster, 1st vertical, then top to bottom, and then left to right.
5. The presenters are given time to arrange their posters for 10 minutes during their Practical Research 2
class on October 9 and 11, 2018. Keep the poster presentation to 10 minutes per panel/ judge.
6. Use a font size that can be read easily from a considerable distance (4 feet or more). The title should be
larger than the rest of the text. Select a legible font such as Times New Roman, Baskerville Old Face, or
Palatino Linotype.
7. Posters should stimulate discussion, not give a long presentation. Therefore, presenters should keep text
to a minimum, emphasize the graphics, and make sure every item in the poster is necessary.
8. Presenters should not stand directly in front of the poster, allow other attendees to view the entire poster.
They are instructed to stand by the poster side.
9. When choosing a background, remember that neutral or gray colors will be easier on the eyes than a
bright color. In addition, color photos look best when mounted on gray.
There are no hard and fast rules for the sections in poster, but here is a suggested list:
_____ (1) is 15 words or less _____ (4) follows suggested organization guidelines
(guided by the poster handout)
Introduction (10 points)
_____ (4) easy to read and not too busy
_____ (5) rationale for work: why this research is
interesting or important _____ (4) able to address questions
