Inequity Treatment Towards the LGBT in Societal Aspects

We’re living in a world where standards, labels, and even sexuality is an issue. Only
several people in the world has the heart to accept a person for who he is. As the LGBT
continues to grow, discrimination also grows. Hatred and unfairness among them is a big
problem when all they wanted was to be accepted and to be treated with love. Discrimination is
evident in our community whether in our own households, schools, and workplaces. These
increasing problems are very alarming for it causes negative impacts among the lives of the
LGBT people, therefore we should set a solution to it.

The life of a person starts in his own household and it is also where the acceptance begins,
but because of the norms and culture of our country, some parents couldn’t understand the
situation of their child. They ended up discriminating them. This is where the judgement, lack of
support, and rejection arise. Because of this, the child will feel uncomfortable and unwanted.
This will root into his mind that others will not accept him because his parents did not as well.
Parents should be opened and be informed about LGBT because judging a child is not healthy
for his wellness. They should understand and respect the decision of their child in relation to his
sexuality. Instead of being unfair to their child, they should support and help him to become a
better person.

Schools are considered to be our second home and we should be comfortable in going to
this place, but because of discrimination, students who identify themselves as part of the LGBT
community, are being bullied may it be physical, mental, or cyber bullying and this is not right.
This will risk the child’s health that may affect his performance in school. Schools should
provide support systems and be opened about LGBT. They could organize a symposium about
LGBT, so that the students and teachers will be informed and will know how to respect the
rights and the freedom of LGBT people. This will provide a productive and happy environment
to the relationships of the students, teachers, and the school.

There are several cases of LGBT discrimination and harassment in the workplace. Some
companies thinks that hiring a LGBT person will affect the performance or image of their
company. There are some that loses their connections with their coworkers, receives violent
attitudes from their managers, or there are clients that do not want to interact with them. In
worst cases, they will have a lower pay or they will be fired. This is really unfair, for we all know
that these people are creative and productive that they could help in the advancement of our
society, but because of discrimination there are only limited opportunities for them. Companies
should provide regular training among their employees and that includes seminars talking about
the rights of LGBT, and the government should give importance to the rights of the LGBT
employees.

Discrimination in different societal aspects have negative effects towards LGBT people.
This unfairness continues to grow and there is no immediate remedy to stop this, but people
should have the initiatives to make a differences. Individuals and the government should
provide proper education and information through protective policies and support organizations.
This will help in creating a welcoming and positive environment towards the LGBT community.
The whole world wants peace and equality, therefore we should give respect and fairness to the
LGBT.
