Why is it wrong to Discriminate LGBTQ?

‘’JUST LET US BE’’ Lesbians, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, people that represents the
nation of Lgbtq. ‘’It takes no compromise to give people their rights ... it takes no money
to respect the individual. It takes no political deal to give people freedom. It takes no
survey to remove repression’’ stated by Harvey Milk. Is there something wrong with
being lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender? How can discrimination be eliminated?
What should be done to stop this kind of issue?. This speech of mine aims to inform you
about how discrimination affect us LGBT members and what exactly discrimination is.

What is discrimination?

Discrimination is defined as the unfair treatment of individuals or groups based on

characteristics such as race, gender, age, or sexual orientation. That's the
straightforward answer. However, explaining why this occurs is more difficult to make
sense of the world, the human brain naturally categorizes things. Young children, for
example, quickly learn to distinguish between boys and girls. However, the values we
assign to various categories are learned—from our parents, peers, and observations we
make about how the world works. Discrimination is frequently motivated by fear and
misunderstanding. Discrimination is a problem for public health, it can cause serious
mental illness on the victim. According to my research, the experience of discrimination
is when perceived as such, can trigger a chain reaction of stress-related emotional,
physical, and behavioral changes. Stress elicits negative emotional responses such as
distress, sadness, social anxiety and anger, and also discrimination might lead someone
to engage on doing health-harming behaviors such as using of alcohol, tobacco, and
other substance, as well as a decreasing your activeness in doing healthy activities and
you might experience this kind of unhealthy habits such as getting low performance of
sleeping and physical activity. Let me share you one of my experience when I was in my
elementary. When I was younger, specifically when I was in elementary school, I was
frequently bullied. I was frequently mocked for being soft. It even got to the point where
my classmates who used to bully me everyday started calling me gay and ugly in front
of a large group of people. It’s difficult for me to hear those words. I remember and carry
with me the memories I had during those times until I grew up.This speech of mine
wants you people of the society to be enlightened, be open minded when it comes to
LGBT members. Even if you haven't been the target of overt acts of bias, discrimination
can be damaging please keep that on mind. Regardless of your personal experiences,
being a member of a group that is frequently discriminated against, such as racial
minorities or people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender, can be
stressful YES it is challenging and stressful. It even gets to the point where I blame
myself, wondering why I’m like this and I hadn’t become like this. These abuses can
cause long-term harm and limit students' right to an education, which is protected under
Philippine and international law.

All in all discrimination is defined as treating idividuals or groups specifically LGBTI

community unfairly because of their characteristics such as race, gender, age, and
sexual orientation that we need to be addressed . According to my research,
lawmakers and school administrators in the Philippines have acknowledged that
bullying of LGBT youth is a serious issue and have devised interventions to address it.
The Department of Education (DepEd), which oversees primary and secondary schools,
enacted a Child Protection Policy in 2012 to combat bullying and discrimination in
schools, including discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. And
also it is appropriate for higher officials to implement programs that will assist the
members of LGBTQ community in reducing their fear of being discriminate and being
abused. It is also appropriate to have general programs, such as those focusing on
treating everyone well, regardless of gender. Schools should be taught their students to
treat everyone nice and accurately regardless of their gender identity.
