Laboratory Reports

All reports must be type-written, in a clear and concise manner. Do not include materials irrelevant to your
experiment. It is suggested to limit the total page number to 5 for individual report. All reports are required to
be emailed to TA within one week after completing the experiment. The following general form is requested for
all laboratory reports:
1. Title Page
The title page should contain the following information: experiment title, name of the authors, date on which
the experiment was performed and date on which the report was submitted.
2. Introduction and objective
A brief introduction about the product and experiment is required. The objective of experiment design should
also be stated.
3. Results
The experimental data and results should be presented in tabular or graphical form as appropriate. All tables,
graphs, and figures should be numbered in sequence and titled accurately. The data and results and the title that
appear in tables, graphs and figures should be complete and self-explanatory so that a reader can then interpret
the results without referring to the text for necessary information.
4. Discussion
The discussion of the results includes a statement of the results as given in the tables and figures. Do refer to
each table and figure in your discussion. Account for and interpret observations and results, and their
implications. The relation of the actual results to those predicted by theory is developed. Comment on possible
errors and discuss the abnormalities in the experiments. When discussion questions are included in the
laboratory manual, you should incorporate answers to these questions, which serve as guidelines and reminders
on what should be included in your discussion. If appropriate, you may also discuss the issues like safety, cost,
and culture, etc., related to that food or experiment.
5. Conclusion
Summarize your observations, results, and conclusions previously arrived at in the Results and Discussion parts.
The conclusions may be presented as a series of numbered statements. They include only pertinent information,
and are based solely on data within the report.
6. References
Attached the major references used in writing this report. Avoid citing too much information from webpage.
