I am writing this letter of recommendation in favor of Mr. Gizachew Ayalew. I have known him
fairly well since 2011 when he joined Bahir Dar University as a postgraduate student for his
Master of Science in Land Resource Management. His M.Sc. Thesis entitled “Soil Classification,
Characterization and selected Crop Suitability Evaluation in Yigossa Watershed, Lake Tana
Basin, Ethiopa” was successfully defended and graded “Very Good” by the examining board.
I have known him as one of my M.Sc. students and I have instructed him the courses, Advanced
Soil Science, and Research Methods in Land Resources Management in 2012 and his
performance and class participation was excellent. This indicates that he is hardworking
student and pursues his goals. He has outstanding character in tolerance, relations towards
other people and religions. He is capable of fitting into various living conditions including
stressful environments and different cultural settings which he demonstrated during his field
research activities working with a range of communities. Mr. Gizachew is highly dependable
and has proven to be of promising young professional researcher in the field of crop and soil
sciences. He has proven himself as a promising, bright and innovative researcher.
Lack of trained human manpower in the developing countries like Ethiopia is one of the main
limiting factors. Providing training opportunities for such young enthusiastic researcher from
the developing countries would be an asset in poverty alleviation through research for
development. Based on the above facts, I fully recommend Mr. Gizachew for the training
scholarships and opportunities and wish him a success in advancing his professional career.
With regards,
