Officers of the Court

Judge – The presiding officer of the court.

Clerk of Court – In-charge of the day-to-day activities of the court. He is the one who arraigns the
Accused and one who reads the decision in every case.

Interpreter – One who interprets questions by translating into dialect known to the witness.

Stenographer – One who transcribes the proceedings of the court in shorthand and later typewriters
said proceeding.

Process server – one who sends subpoena and other processes of the court.

Clerk-Typist – one who types records and keeper of the records.

Other definitions

Chamber – the private office of the judge

Sala – place where the hearing of case is done.

Gavel - a small mallet used by the presiding officer of a meeting, a judge, etc., usually to signal
for attention or order.
