INTRODUCTION

Institutional Research Agenda

The PhilCST’s institutional research agenda is based on the mission, vision, goal and the
developmental plan of the institution. The institutional research agenda aid the institution in its internal
consultation for strategic planning, data-driven decision-making, and policy-formulation through the
relevant research output. It also continuously improves and elevates the standards in academic and
administrative areas through the identification of research priorities. Further, the institutional research
agenda is aligned with the National Higher Education Research Agenda and the Harmonized Region 1
Research and Development Agenda HRDDA (2017-2022). Some research preferences being identified are
the following:

A. Policy-oriented Researches (Institutional)

1. Assessment of the Service rendered as a source of economic growth and employment;


2. Extent of realization of the school’s vision and mission;
3. Relevance and effectiveness of curricular programs;
4. Delivery of effective auxiliary services to students;
5. Development and effectiveness of instructional materials;
6. Quality assurance measures undertaken to Board programs;
7. Gender and Development/sensitivity awareness among employees;
8. Receptiveness of teachers in research works;
9. Outcome-based-education Delivery;
10. Integration of core values into the teachers daily Lesson.

B. Priority Areas for Research

Based on the existing National Higher Education Research Agenda (NHERA), and the
Harmonized Region 1 Research and Development Agenda, (2017-2022) PHILCST had endeavored to
identify and define its research agenda which cascaded to the different colleges.

In all the Agenda, the utilization of the research outputs is a primary consideration.

1. Factors Affecting the Implementation of road projects
2. Extent of Implementation of Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB)
regulations
3. Viability of the revival of PNR Operation
4. Feasibility and master plan study for an international port within the region
5. Viability of other airports in the region for commercial operation

II. Globalization
1. Design and production of new and low-cost technologies to improve production of
farmers and fisherfolks
2. Technological support for the upgrading of local cacao and cocoa industry
3. Development of technology for pulping agricultural wastes and evaluation of other
fibrous agricultural crops for pulp production

III. Environmental and Natural Resources


1. Technology development for monitoring of air quality
2. Conduct of soil analysis/mapping of polluted lands and identification of possible
crops for cultivation

Research Publication

Research Output Dissemination

1. PhilCST separately publishes every academic year a Faculty Research Journal and a
Student Research Journal. The Faculty Research Journal contains the research works
of the College Research Team, individual research of a faculty member and
institutional researches conducted by the RGSO and other non-teaching staff.
2. The Student Research Journal contains the research works (thesis, capstone and
project feasibility study) of students enrolled, during the current academic year.
Student research outputs which are included in the Student Research Journal were
chosen by their respective Colleges under their research evaluation and selection
mechanisms.
3. Internal editors as well as external reviewers help the RGSO to ensure that the
materials submitted for publication conform with the institutional criteria on style
and format.
4. At the end of the academic year, the RGSO shall consolidate all research outputs
which in fair judgment are worthy and relevant for policy and decision-making
purposes. Consolidated research outputs will be submitted by the RGSO to the VPAA
and EVP for relevant use.
5. PhilCST encourages publication of research outputs in local, regional, national and
in international periodicals.
6. Copies of the research output shall be made available to the following offices:

7. The research output shall become the property of PhilCST. The researcher-author
shall however assume full responsibility for conveyed opinions and the accuracy of
the statements in the article.
8. Another way to disseminate research output is through research presentation in
local and international venues.
