TEXT : MATT 9:14-13 ESV

18 While he was saying these things to them, behold, a ruler came in and knelt before him, saying, “My
daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.” 19 And Jesus rose and followed
him, with his disciples. 20 And behold, a woman who had suffered from a discharge of blood for twelve years
came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, 21 for she said to herself, “If I only touch his
garment, I will be made well.” 22 Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has
made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well. 23 And when Jesus came to the ruler's house and
saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion, 24 he said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but
sleeping.” And they laughed at him. 25 But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by
the hand, and the girl arose. 26 And the report of this went through all that district. MATT 9:18-26 ESV

TOPIC: A Touch of Faith

INTRO:

I. Waiting Upon The Lord

(The Faith that made you whole )

20 And behold, a woman who had suffered from a discharge of blood for twelve years came up behind
him and touched the fringe of his garment, 21 for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I will
be made well.” 22 Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you
well.” And instantly the woman was made well. MATT 9:20-22 ESV

21 Anyone who touches her bed will be unclean; they must wash their clothes and bathe with water,
and they will be unclean till evening. .. Leviticus 15:21 NIV.

When no one understand you , remember there is God in heaven who understand your problem and
concerns in Life

Your Desperation is a blessing because it could led you to God

According to Luke ….
“If I could touch the border (or hem) of His garment…” I will be made well v21

Going an EXTRA MILE with our Lord brings wholeness with your faith

Waiting upon the Lord ‘s perfect timing

18 Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to
you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. ISAIAH 30:18 ESV

II. Interruption and Delay encourages our Faith

24 he said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him. 25 But when the
crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. MATT 9: 24-25
ESV

The maid is not dead but sleepeth

Sleep is a short death, and death a long sleep - Matthew Henry

Christ is our Resurrection and Life

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet
shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. John 11:25-26 ESV

14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with
him those who have fallen asleep. 1 Thes 4:14 ESV

He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose v.25

Interruption and Delay encourages our Faith –

 it ‘s God’s perfect plan for us to witness His Faithfulness and
 Jesus Christ will allow us to experience and fully reveal His power to bless

When experienced God’s delays. ,TRUST God.

In crisis , give or surrender everything your doubts, your fears, your wandering thoughts, your self-
trust to God

David experienced them

 3 I am weary with my crying out; my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my
God.Ps. 69:3 ESV
 1 For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. Ps. 62:1 ESV

God uses His DELAYS and INTERRUPTIONS to teach us to trust Him more fully and to submit more
thoroughly to His lordship over our lives.

The Purpose of DELAYS and INTERRUPTIONS

1. God uses them to teach us to trust Him more fully.

When God delays , we must

 Trust Him by submitting your agendas to Him
 Trust in Him not in your circumstances

 Trust Him by doing right , even if we do not reach our goals

2. God uses them to teach us to submit more thoroughly to His lordship over our lives.
We submit to God’s lordship by
 Acknowledging that He is God and we are not
 Not Grumbling while we wait
 Taking advantage of present opportunities while we wait on Him

CONCLUSION:

I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! 14 Wait for the
Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! Ps. 27:13-14 ESV
