Compressor system – Pressure Control Narratives

1st & 2nd Stage Compressor:

The flashed gas from 3rd stage separator is normally routed to 1st stage suction
cooler. 3rd stage Separator normal operating pressure is 1 barg. In the event of
high pressure in the 3rd stage Separator the excess pressure is released to LP
flare header through the control valve PV-3 until the pressure drops to the
controller, 20-PIT-305 set point.
1st & 2nd Stage Compressor is provided with suction pressure based control
which modulates Anti-surge valve across the compressor. 1ST stage Compressor
suction pressure signal is transmitted to anti-surge valve) & 2nd stage
Compressor suction pressure signal from is transmitted to anti-surge for
necessary action via dedicated compressor UCP. Increase in compressor
suction pressure will start opening the anti-surge control valve till the desired
operating point is achieved.
In case the discharge pressure increases, it overrides the suction pressure
control and modulates the anti-surge valve to achieve the required discharge
pressure.
Capacity control is through Unit Control Panel.
