Language Tests for
Migrants
FIRST SEMESTER 2020-2021

Course Introduction

 This course acquaints you to three of the most important English


Language tests relevant to your field of specialization. These are IELTS, OET
and TOEFL.
 A brush up on the four basic language skills is necessary to identify your
strengths and weaknesses.
 Online drills and exercises is used to help you practice and hone your test
taking skills
 Since this is the first time that this subject is offered, most of the materials
gathered are from online sources that are available for everyone to use.
General Guidelines and Reminders

I. Personal Conduct
Remember to be respectful and polite at all times. Regardless of the
inconveniences and challenges that this New normal brings, let us try our
best to be prudent at all times.
In this regard, Do not forget these reminders:
1. Always start with a formal greeting when communicating with each
other and use English as a medium of communication.
2. As much as possible, no communication should be done on the
weekend.
(All materials/Discussions are given on the first day of the week while
tasks are to be submitted on or before the end of the week.)
3. Consultation hours should be done within the scheduled time of our
subject.
4. For unavoidable reasons, you can communicate with me until 9:00
pm. during weekdays. I will be checking my online accounts between
4:00- 6:00pm only on weekends.
II. COURSE GUIDELINES
> Please write your real name (First Name and Family Name) on your
Facebook and Google classroom accounts. This will be easy for me to
identify you in our group.
> Only officially enrolled students shall be allowed to join the class. I am
using the temporary list of students in verifying your identity.
>Moodle is the official LMS of CIT University so please make sure you are
logged in. It is preferable to use the mobile version of Moodle so you can
access materials even when you are offline.
 Since it takes time to enroll students to Moodle, our Facebook and
Google classroom will serve as a venue for our introductory lesson and
activities for the first two weeks.

 Specific details about this course including the lesson outline, list of
activities and assessment details can be found in the Course Guide.
This is posted in our Facebook group and Google classroom.
 Discussion materials will be uploaded every first day of the week along
with the activities and exercises for each week.
>Since Moodle will only be available this week, our Facebook and Google
classroom will serve as a venue for our introductory lesson and activities
for the first two weeks.
> Our google classroom will serve as the second official platform for the
submission of your tasks.
 Checking of outputs usually falls on the last day of the week. If the
task requires more time to comply it may be extended in the weekend.
 Please make sure you open our page everyday during the weekdays
for updates on materials, activities and deadlines.
 As a course requirement, you need to submit a portfolio of the tests
and scores you have taken at the end of the term.
 Make sure you save your scores on your folder or you may screenshot
the results.
 Remember that MADE learners like you should be involved with
your learning it is after all self-directed and self-paced learning.
