GUIDELINES TO PREPARING RESEARCH PROPOSAL

This guideline is intended for candidates applying to pursue their postgraduate


degrees by research. Candidates are required to submit at least 2000-word
research proposal, which should encompass the following elements:

1.0 Abstract
1.1 Title of the proposed research (not more than 15 words).
1.2 A brief summary of entire research proposal (literature review).

2.0 Research Objectives


2.1 Why this research study is needed?
2.2 How will the research results be beneficial to oil, gas and energy
sector?

3.0 Problem Formulation


3.1 Why is this problem or question important?
3.2 What specific issues does this study raise that have not been
observed in other literature pertaining to the topic?
3.3 What method will be used?
3.4 Explain the relevance of your proposed research to other research
that has been done.

4.0 Discussion (Significance of study and implication of results)


4.1 Significance of study to Oil, Gas & Energy sector.
4.2 Implications of the proposed study and how the study‘s results will
affect the future and benefit others.

5.0 References
5.1 Reference list for all sources used
