Case Study Analysis

Q1. Make a list of job profiles from the companies you would
like to get placed or thinking of having a job. Read the job
description and skills required as per the company ?
ANS – The list of Company’s that I would like to work with and
their job profiles are stated below:

 UDAAN - a B2B marketplace for foods, apparel and


electronics, headquarters in Bengaluru. The job profiles in
this company include are Business Development,
Operations and Sales.
 Blackbuck – India’s largest trucking network, has been
pioneer in bringing the offline operations of trucking
online. Job profiles include Business analyst, Operations,
UX lead, Product manager, Supply chain management.
 Arther Energy – an Indian electric vehicle company
building smart and intelligent electrical vehicles,
headquartered in Bengaluru. Job profiles include Sales
operation, Product specialist, Data privacy and security
manager etc
 Urban Company – The platform offline service workers
who have relied jobs, headquarter Gurugram. The job
profiles include Data scientist, Marketing and PR etc.
 Cipla – A multinational pharmaceutical company,
headquarter in Bengaluru. The job profiles include are
Deputy Manager, Business Development (Sales and
Marketing), Senior compliance and ethics manager,
Operations and project strategy.
Q1. Make a list of 10 prominent skills sets that are required for
the job profiles you searched in the first question ?
ANS - Every job requires a set of skills that a company look for
before choosing a candidate. 10 prominent skill set required by
the four above stated company’s that I would like to work with
are given below:
 Structured Query Language (SQL).
 Communication Skills.
 Supervising skills.
 Adaptability to change.
 Problem solving and analytical skills.
 Customer Relationship Management.
 Strong Presentation skills.
 Knowledge of ongoing market activity.
 Ability to leverage technology.
 Handle multiple tasks.

Q3. Make a plan to develop these skills in yourself ?


ANS - I would make a plan and a series of steps to develop the
above stated skills.

 Assign a timeline for the development of each skill – Some


skill require extensive study like SQL. I would give more
weightage on that since this is technical in nature. Maybe
enroll into a programme to further enhance SQL skill.
 I would assess my strengths and weakness on the skills which
are basically theoretical in nature. And basically create an
action plan for the weaker part and focus on strengthening
those.
 Speak to my teachers who are more familiar with my work
and ask them to identify skills that I can further develop.
Work on my vocabulary, make a habit of reading newspaper
daily which would augment in enhancing my communication
skill.
 Try to get a part time job, which would actually help to
understand the working environment , the different
challenges that comes up and how they handle the situation,
accrue my knowledge about how to handle multiple tasks,
coordinate with other employees.
 Most importantly, being updated about the regular
happenings/events in the business/political world would
develop my approach towards problem solving abilities,
analytical skills and augment my ability to do tasks according
to situation.
Q4. What do you understand by case study. What are the
things that should be included and not to be included while
analyzing a case study. How detailed it should be ?
ANS – A case study is an in-depth research methodology and detail
examination of a particular case. These are generally based on
investigation of a single individual, group, or event to explore the
causes of underlying principles.
Things that should be considered while analyzing a case study are :

 Identify the main research problem.


 Analyze the main underlying causes of the existing problem.
 Establish the cause-and-effect relations between the various
aspects
 Formulate the best solutions to address the problem.
Things that should not be considered while analyzing a case study
are :

 Do not jump to the conclusion before reading the whole case.


 Analysis should not be done in a biased manner.
Q5. Make a list of 10 big events in India whose case studies I
want to analyse and why ?
ANS – 10 case study that I want to analyse and the reason
behind it are :

 Mumbai dabbawala, what are the factors involved behind a


delivery system with 99.99% accuracy and an excellent supply
chain despite being semi-literate.
 CCD founder VG Siddhartha demise, what’s the reason
behind VG Siddhartha to have taken such an extreme step.
 Yes bank case, from being the country’s most promising bank
to sudden fall, what actually went wrong.
 Rise and fall of Anil Ambani, from being one of the richest
Indians to almost facing jail terms for overriding debt.
 Demonetization, did the government actually succeeded in
curbing the black money, counterfeit notes and whether it
affected the economy.

against the modi government, the supreme court verdict and the
real cost involved.
 General Motors exit from India, why it could not succeed in
the country of 1.3 Billion people, where other foreign players
have had their pie.
 Ratan Tata v/s Cyrus Mistry, what’s the actual reason
behind the fault lines of Mistry vs Tata.
 Journey of TATA Nano from Singur to Gujarat, why the
company shifted from Singur to Sanand (Gujarat), which could
have bolster job opportunities for the people of West Bengal.
 Dream 11 – Gambling or a game of skill, what the supreme

the company’s GST evasion.
Q6. What is planning, strategy and decision making and how
its important to become a business leader in future ?
Ans – Planning – It is the first and foremost managerial function,
a process concerned with defining goals for the company’s future
direction and determine the goals and target to achieve those
target.
Strategy - Strategic management involves setting objectives,
analyzing the competitive environment, analyzing the internal
organization, evaluating strategies, and ensuring
that management rolls out the strategies across the organization.
Decision making – A decision making is a series of steps taken
by an individual to determine the best option or course of action to
meet their needs.
Planning helps a business to identify its goals. Preparing for the
future allows business leaders to consider the impact they would
like the company to have and find a way to get there. A Strategy
helps you to maximize the efficiency which ultimately helps you
to achieve the set goal, a series of steps has to be develop for the
pre-determined objectives which would help you to eliminate
unnecessary tasks which increases competitive advantage towards
the goal. Decision making is an on-going process in
every business; large or small. Having critical thinking skills
allows one to ascertain the problem and come up with a solution
that is beneficial to the company and its employees.  A decision
maker should possess the quality to
separate important information from fluff. As a good decision-
maker, you'll need to learn how to pinpoint what information is
key to the choice you're about to make.
