Bridging the Gap of 1st and 21st Century Teaching-

Learning Methodology: Implications of Sociological
Foundations of Education

Education is likened to a journey in the outer space where it is vast and wide,
continuous, unending, and lots of informations out in the horizon. This is a
process of infinite knowing and discovering in this world full of ideas. Education
has been discovered, known, and added meaning from several prosperous
philosophers and teachers long before our great ancestors were born, and even
before Christ's birth. From the 1 st BCE up until today, education paved the way for
students and teachers, families, economies, nations, and etc. find and foresee its
value and just. Ancient philosophers and teachers such as Plato, Aristotle, St.
Augustine, and even from the 1 st to 21st century teachers such as Karl Marx,
Albert Einstein, and Sir Isaac Newton tackled and mentioned the vastness of our
universe, how mysterious it was and it is, and the ideas that we are about to
know.
There were also known discoveries about several atomic particles, fire, earth,
and water as fundamental aspects why our universe was created, however, there
were frequent ideas aroused such as the discovery of numerical digits,
philosophies or unresolved theories, and all ideas that were analyzed and proven
to predict the creation. These are all made due to their critical minds and of
course because of the foundation and integration of education that I am
experiencing today. The above mentioned personas proved that education is vital
in our existence and ignorance is not a life sentence. They always emphasized
and explained how crucial and critical the earth is but through education, I knew
and believed that everyone has a purpose in life. It is not all about our
educational degrees but it is all about today and today's workmanship. Education
is not a preparation only for tomorrow but also for today's life and purpose.
As cited by Helen Keller, “What’s worst than being blind is having sight but no
vision”. Education is our vision that leads us in our step by step progress and
value.
