TENTATIVE TITLE: Different Layouts of Spaces of
a 25 sq meter Studio-Type Condo Unit Without
Compromising the User’s Comfortability

EXISTING SITUATIONS
Condominium is a building containing a number
of individually owned apartments or houses. It
is composed of units such as studio-type, 2-
bedroom, 3 bedroom, loft, and etc., having
amenities forming a sense of community within
a building; a community composing of people
having different lifestyles with a typical layout-
type of unit. Not all occupants of a
condominium like how spaces were arranged in
a unit since the layout of spaces, furniture, and
fixtures were already positioned since before
they occupied. Occupants, when they live in the
unit already lose their freedom in living in a
space at their most comfortable way. They
might have the freedom what they wanted to
put on the shelves, on the kitchen, or on the
table, but the freedom of designing your own
spaces based on your lifestyle were locked up.
IDEAL SITUATION
Based on the existing situation, we wanted to
conduct a study about how different layouts of
spaces of a 24 sq. meter studio-type condo-unit
affect the occupant without compromising its
comfort. We wanted to have different layouts
of the spaces of a studio unit to the based on
the lifestyles of the different users;
understanding users, for who they are, where
they live, and how they live and demonstrating
that with careful balance. Users do have
different lifestyles where they cook and eat,
sleep, watching TV, eating and etc., finding the
most comfortable way where those activities
are supposed to be.
GAP IN BETWEEN
Understanding the two different situations, the
ideal situation practices the user’s freedom of
creativity on organizing on his/her personal
space while in the existing situation, your ability
to think for new ideas were limited and
bounded. Layouts of spaces of studio-type units
were untypical from each other in the ideal
situation compared to the existing situation
having only 1 typical layout for studio-type
units. Layouts of spaces were based on the
lifestyle of the user itself at their most
comfortable way which is better from the
existing situation.
