Thesis Title: A Proposed New State College of Mandaue: Elevating the Educational Landscape
through Constructivist Pedagogy
Brief Background/Rationale:
Currently, there are 2 schools in Mandaue that guarantee to be the Mandaue City College.
One is the school arranged in the compound of Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex
(MCCSC), which is perceived and run by the regional government, and the MCC that is controlled
by Dr. Paulus Cañete in H. Abellana Street in Barangay Basak which was not been perceived by
the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd). Meanwhile, the city was anticipating developing
another grounds for the 'perceived' MCC. MCC Administration requests more places to construct
classrooms due to the increase in the number of enrollees. Truth be told, a portion of the classes
were additionally held in certain rooms in MCCSC. CEBU Sixth District Rep. Emmarie "Lolypop"
Ouano-Dizon has documented a bill looking for the change of the Mandaue City College (MCC)
into a state college in order for it to accommodate more marginalized yet deserving students while
liberating the City from the weight of bearing the school's financial limit.
If the bill will be approved, there will be more students who could enroll at the MCC, not
just Mandauehanons, but also students from other government units. The students can also avail
themselves of the Unified Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) for
educational assistance.
Possible Site/s:
There will be 2 possible sites of the study: first, in Barangay Looc, Mandaue, that
the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility was presently occupying.
The BJMP facility will be relocated and have new facility at the identified property of
Mandaue. The Second will be at the location of the city’s old public market at the back of
Mandaue Sports and Cultural Center which was damaged by the 2013 earthquake, which
will be demolished to pave way for the construction of planned extension of modular
classrooms for Mandaue City College.
