COURSE OUTLINE/SYLLABUS

INSPECTION AND TESTING LAB/LECTURE

SUBJECT CODE: MT12L-M
3 HOURS ONLINE CLASS/WEEK
CLASS SCHEDULE: BET-MT 3A (MONDAY 7:00AM – 10:00AM)
Course Description: In manufacturing, quality control is a process that ensures customers receive
products free from defects and meet their requirements. Inspection and measurement are needed during
production for quality control because of the inherent variability introduced by the machines, tools, raw
materials, and human operators which causes variations in the different quality characteristics (length,
diameter, thickness, tensile strength, surface finish etc.) of the product. Inspection and testing are very
important in maintaining a certain quality level in the product during production. Course Outcomes: After
completing this course subject, the student must be able to:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of Inspection and Testing on Manufacturing Industry.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of the Testing machine primarily used on Manufacturing Industry.
3. Demonstrate an ability to apply the Tools, equipment and testing machine on material inspection.
4. Understand the working principle and function of testing machines.
5. Understand and gain knowledge about the process of inspection and treatment of materials in terms of
mechanical properties.

NOTE:
For Computation of grades for Major Examination:

- Average Score, Save : Save=ΣS /n

Where: ΣS−∑ of all accumulated scores ¿ prelim ¿ final exam .
n−Total no . of points of prelim ¿ final examination .
- Equivalent Grade, G:
G = Save/2 + 50%
- Accumulated Grade, AG:
AG = G X 45%
